It is hard to believe we are already in the last week of February. These winter months can feel long, but we have almost made it through some of the hardest stretch of the school year. Spring is getting closer, and with it comes renewed energy and momentum.

As we approach Parent-Teacher Conferences, this is an important time to check in on your student’s progress. Please take a few minutes this week to review grades in PowerSchool and have a conversation with your child about how classes are going. Staying on top of assignments, attendance, and effort now will help ensure a strong finish to the quarter.

We appreciate your continued partnership. When school and home work together, our students are set up for success. Let’s finish February strong and head into March with focus and purpose.

Attendance matters because credits matter.

In middle school, students are earning credits that determine promotion to the next grade. In order to move on, students must earn at least 80% of their total credits — 10 out of 12. Those credits come from Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, and they are earned by successfully completing coursework throughout the year.

When students miss school, they miss instruction, discussions, practice, and support. Even one or two absences can make it harder to stay caught up. Regular attendance gives students the best opportunity to earn their credits, avoid falling behind, and feel confident in their learning.

Let’s work together to make showing up every day a priority. Being present is the first step toward success.
