Newsletter April 14, 2025

Dear NRHS Community,

I hope this message finds you doing well. We are in the home stretch leading up to April vacation and today finally felt like spring!

As the Rotary project is now underway, please be advised that we are finding that families and students need to account for an additional 10 minutes of drive time and traffic due to the construction. In addition, we anticipate that there will be traffic impacts due to partial road closure to one lane on Tuesday, April 15th. Please be prepared for additional delays and plan your travel accordingly. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these temporary conditions for a permanent improvement.

On Thursday NRHS will take the last block of the day to film our traditional "Lip-Dub". This is a student led community building event that takes place every other year where students select song segments and each class, club, activity, and sport in the school each get a song segment, which is filmed and then spliced together. It is a long standing and very fun Nashoba community event. To help facilitate the event, we need all hands on deck, including our office staff. The main office will temporarily close during the filming from 1:10-2:10pm. We encourage all students to stay and participate, however if you need to dismiss your child early on that day, please do so before 1:00pm. Our students are getting pretty excited about the event and are decorating hallways on Wednesday afternoon!

  • School Council will meet on Wednesday 4/16 in the library
  • April 21-25 - April Vacation - No School

Our Robotics team will depart soon for their World Competition, DECA students will be competing in Nationals very soon and our French Exchange students will also be departing in a few days. Good Luck and Bon Voyage to all!

Have a wonderful week!

Romantic Riches: music by Mendelssohn and Brahms -- Sounds of Stow Spring Concert

Join the Sounds of Stow Chorus & Orchestra for their 46th season Spring concert on April 13, 2025, at 2pm. The concert will be held at the convenient and state-of-the-art venue, the Littleton High School at 56 King Street in Littleton, MA (just off I-495).

Under the direction of Barbara Jones, the chorus and orchestra will explore “Romantic Riches”, starting with Beethoven's exuberant Piano Concerto #1, performed by the phenomenal Sonya Ovrutsky Fensome, one of our favorite musical guests. Choral music by Mendelssohn (the beautiful opening movement of Psalm 42) and Brahms follows. The “Four Songs for Women’s Chorus, Two Horns and Harp” (Vier Gesange), are the epitome of Romantic expression. Brahm’s great motets - “Schicksalslied” (Song of Fate) and “Nanie” (Elegy) explore the eternal quest for meaning and reassurance in the midst of the uncertainties of the human condition. Line by line texts in English will be shown during the performance, accompanied by appropriate images of 19th century artwork, further illuminating the emotional content of the works.

For further information and tickets, please visit www.soundsofstow.org or email info@soundsofstow.org. Sounds of Stow is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council as administered by the local cultural councils of Stow, Acton-Boxborough, Bolton, Carlisle and Hudson.
