RVHS's Mr. Findley & Drivers Education
From the DMV Grant Manager at the Virginia Department of Education.
I want to extend my sincere appreciation for the outstanding contribution made by Scott Findley during our recent webinar for Driver Education stakeholders. His professionalism, depth of knowledge, and ability to engage participants added tremendous value to the session.
The insights shared were not only timely but also highly relevant to the needs of our statewide Driver Education community. Participants expressed gratitude for the practical strategies, clear explanations, and real‑world connections that Scott brought to the discussion. His presentation helped strengthen the attendee’s collective understanding and reinforced the importance of high‑quality instruction in promoting safe and responsible driving among teens.
We recognize that such effective presentations require preparation, support, and encouragement within the school environment. Thank you for fostering a culture where educators are empowered to share their expertise beyond the classroom. Your support makes a meaningful difference for both the presenters and the wider audience they serve.
Please extend our thanks to Scott for representing Riverside High School so well and for contributing to the continued advancement of Driver Education across the Commonwealth. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate.
PINK WEEK & DECA
Riverside DECA is proud to continue our annual Pink Week campaign in support of the Loudoun Breast Health Network (LBHN), a local nonprofit that provides financial and emotional assistance to individuals in Loudoun County undergoing breast cancer treatment.
Throughout Pink Week, Riverside students and the surrounding community will have several opportunities to get involved, raise awareness, and support LBHN. Activities will include Pink Week events at school, fundraising efforts, and the annual Pink Game, where our school community comes together to show its support for those affected by breast cancer.
As part of this year’s campaign, Riverside DECA will also be at Method Health Club on Saturday, October 17th for its Fall for Fitness event. Our team will have a table where community members can learn more about Pink Week, LBHN, the Pink Game, and other ways to support the campaign.
We hope students, families, and community members will join us throughout Pink Week and help us make a meaningful impact for breast cancer patients and their families in Loudoun County.
Purple Star School
The Purple Star designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated their commitment to students and families connected to our nation's military. Purple star schools have implemented mechanisms to meet the educational and social-emotional needs military-connected students face as they transition to new schools or during a family member's deployment.
We are proud to share that Riverside High School has just been awarded the Purple Star for a second time!
Attendance Matters at Riverside High School
Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to stay engaged in learning, build positive relationships with teachers and peers, and remain on track for graduation. Even a few missed days can make it difficult to keep up with coursework and important classroom experiences.
We encourage all families to visit the Riverside High School Student Attendance Page, where you can find important information about
reporting absences,
attendance procedures,
excused and unexcused absences,
early dismissals,
attendance contacts, and
helpful resources to support student success.
Staying informed about attendance expectations helps ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive at Riverside. Let's work together to make every day count! 📚🎓
Parenting the Anxious Child
Anxiety is a natural response that helps us recognize and avoid danger. However, for some children and teens, anxiety can become overwhelming when everyday situations are perceived as threats, even when no real danger exists.
Parents and caregivers are invited to attend Parenting the Anxious Child on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the LCPS Administration Building (21000 Education Ct., Ashburn). This workshop will provide practical strategies for understanding anxiety, helping children develop healthy coping skills and supporting their emotional well-being. The session will be presented by Joaquin Perez-Arrieta, LCSW, School Social Worker at Broad Run High School. Please register to attend.
