A Note from the Principal
Week 2, Day 5
I love starting the year with a two-day opening followed by a long weekend. It provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on the start of the year and make any necessary adjustments. Fortunately, our opening was very smooth, requiring only a few minor tweaks. That said, we are aware of some bus concerns involving stops and timeliness, and we are working with First Student to address them. With several new drivers this year, we appreciate your patience as they learn the routes and stops throughout Hull.
Tomorrow, we will hold our first JES school-wide assembly of the year, where we will reveal our “One Word” for 2025–2026, and winners of the Summer Reading contests. As a reminder, students are encouraged to wear their Core Value shirts or blue and gold colors for all Spirit Days. We'll have Core Value shirts soon for Kindergarten students.
JMS is sailing into the new school year. Next week, our 6th and 7th grade students will begin their Health and Wellness curriculum for the year. Students will have Health class once a week and will be covering a variety of topics. Our new Physical Education and Wellness teacher, Mr. Fitzgerald, will send an email prior to each unit to let you know what your student will be learning and provide ways you can continue the conversation at home. Please be on the lookout for his first email before class next Tuesday.
Middle schoolers have also started Enrichment classes and are already earning points for the House Cup Challenge. Green House may have won last year, but it's Slate House that holds the lead right now. The way these kids earn points, I think the lead could be bouncing from house to house all year!
On Monday, we are excited to welcome our PreK students, which will officially bring our Pirate Ship to full crew for the yearlong voyage ahead.

Library Volunteers Needed!
Choose Your Day/Time
Mrs. Irby will be opening the library soon, and can use a LOT of help! Please contact Deborah at dirby@hullpublicschools.us if you are able to spend a few hours in the library every week or two. You can even arrange to be there for your child's library time!
Papers Being Sent Home Today...
Please Sign & Return Them to School
Paper copies of our Mobile Computing Device Acceptable Use Agreement Signature Page and Student Handbook Signature Page have been sent home with students. Please complete and sign both and return them to school tomorrow. The Student Handbook (which contains the Mobile Computing Device Acceptable Use Policy) can be found on the new website HERE. Please pay particular attention to the updated Chromebook guidelines, as fees will now be applied for damaged devices.
Students will also bring home Student Information Verification Forms to be reviewed and updated as needed. Please review the form, make any needed changes, sign it, and return it to school. If no changes are needed, please write "OK" next to your signature. (The "OK" will really simplify the update process in the office.)
Picture Day is next Friday, September 12! Blank order envelopes are being sent home with students, but it may be simpler to go online to mylifetouch.com and either log in or create an account. Our Picture Day ID is EVTPD288C.
Send Us Your RAD Photos!
We'll Put Them On The Big Screen!
Send RAD Photos of your Pirates having fun in their Core Value T-Shirts or School Colors (Blue & Gold!) to lrajan@hullpublicschools.us and we'll add them to the slide show at our monthly assembly! Kids loving seeing themselves and their friends on the big screen!
