October Newsletter

As we near the end of another month together, I want to thank all the parents, students, teachers, and community members who have taken the time to positively impact our young learners. Education is truly a team effort, and it takes all of us caring for our students and providing them with meaningful opportunities to learn and grow.

Research consistently shows that one of the strongest predictors of success in school is a child’s ability to read. I encourage all families to set aside time each day to read with their child at home. Even just 10 minutes a day can make a significant difference in their reading development.

With parent-teacher conferences approaching next month, I invite you to ask questions about your child’s reading progress. Talk with your child’s teacher about their independent reading level and ask for ideas to support their growth at home. I feel truly blessed to be part of such an engaged and caring community.

Sincerely,

Mr. Miller
Principal

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held on November 11th and 12th. We expect all families to make plans to attend. During your conference, you will receive your child’s Quarter 1 report card, results from our fall literacy and math screenings, and other important information about your child’s progress in school.

The conference sign up form will be sent out on October 28th. We look forward to connecting with families and celebrating student growth!

Community Safety Day

Our School Safety Team did a wonderful job coordinating a Community Safety Day for our students! This special event gave students the opportunity to learn from the community leaders and first responders who work hard to keep us safe. We are grateful to our community partners for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with our students. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a successful and meaningful learning experience!

From the Music Room

Fruit Sale

The Annual Music Department Fruit Sale began October 7th and will run until November 2nd. As in previous years, we are using MinnTex as our distributor so the products will be of the same high quality. This year, we have an online option as well. Our delivery date will be Friday, December 11th. https://sales.minntexcitrus.com/organizations/reedsville-music-department/

The profits from the sales benefit music students in so many ways. Money earned from the sale stays with the seller throughout their music education and can be applied to trips, camps, and other amazing experiences as they continue to participate in the music programs.

This spring, the music department is going on a field trip to see the UW Madison Varsity Spring Band Show. Funds from this fruit sale will be applied toward ticket sales.

Winter Concerts

  • Junior/Senior High Concert - Monday, December 7th, 6:30 p.m.

  • 4K - 3rd Elementary Concert - Tuesday, December 15th, 1:30 p.m.

  • 4th - 6th Elementary Concert - Tuesday, December 15th, 6:00 p.m

The Elementary concerts are entitled “A Johnny Marks Christmas”. Any parents interested in helping decorate the gym for our program please email Mrs. Johnson for work days and times. We hope to decorate with a vintage vibe. If you have any items that we can borrow for the programs, please let us know. We would appreciate it!!

Youth Cheer Camp

Our fall cheer camp was a great success, with 44 girls participating! The girls worked hard, learned new cheers and routines, and had the exciting opportunity to show off their skills during halftime of a varsity football game. We are so proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and effort. Way to go, Panthers!

From the Art Room

Students in 3K to sixth grades have been busy creating self portraits. First a practice drawing and then a one-color portrait. Many were up for the challenge. At first a limited palette seems difficult, but this challenge allows students to understand value using lighter colors for lighter areas of a face and darker colors for hair and the pupils of our eyes. I look forward to hanging all of their colorful hard work in a spectrum starting November.

In preK students made primary color compositions and in Kindergarten students ladybug color mixing collages.

Hand lettering continues on 3rd-6th grades. We began our lessons on lettering like an architect this week. Many look forward to the lesson of learning about graphic novel lettering.

If you need to connect to Artsonia please email me, I will be able to help.

Weekly Prize Winners

Each week on Friday, we will draw 3 winners of our weekly prizes. Students work hard to get their panther paws filled out during the school day. Whenever they fill their card of paws, they will get a sucker from their homeroom teacher, and have a chance to enter their paw into a drawing for a bigger prize. Please continue to encourage your child to work hard in school, follow the panther way, and keep getting their paw cards filled up. Below are the photos of our recent winners!
