Fri 9th January

Friday 9th January
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
A very Happy New Year to you and all your family. It's great to have all the children back and a week of fabulous schooling has already taken place.
Our after-school clubs are all up and running and we have loads of pupils staying behind.
We had a really informative night with Jonny Caughey on Tuesday night on First Aid in the home followed by a P6,7 parent evening with Love for Life.
Thank you for your continued consideration when parking and picking up your child punctually.
Please remember to come into the playground to collect your child if they are in P1,2,4 and 5. We ask P3 parents to pick-up in Old School house to spread out the numbers but most parents are now waiting out there. This makes it hard to see and pick out the right parent, so please come into the playground unless you are P3.
As per our poll before Christmas, we will continue to do a phased pick-up on a Friday.
Thank you for sending your child in the correct uniform on the correct days.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs F
Friends of Spa- Beat the January Blues
Fill your Bake is completely full but there are still some spaces at our Emma Spence and Yoga evening. Would love to see you there.
School Counsellor
Linda-Jayne will have 2 spaces available after next week. Please contact me or the class teacher if you think your child would benefit from some time spent with her. Everything will be treated in confidence.
Book Fair comes to Spa
Book Fair will be arriving on Tues 20th January and staying until the following Monday.
P3 Litter Pick
P3 and eco committee took part in a litter workshop with our Field Officer Jenny. We were able to explore everything litter looking at how long it would take for litter to break down if it was left at the side of the road. We couldn’t believe it would take 100 years for an aluminium tin can to break down! We found out about the threats to ocean life because of litter and the bins we should be using for different materials. We can’t wait to take part in our litter pick around school and Spa when the weather is better.
P7 visit the High School Ballynahinch
Our P7s spent a very enjoyable day in the High School today. Thanks to the High School for providing transport and feeding us.

We are really enjoying our new reading books which Friends of Spa funded. As you will have seen on our School Development Plan, Reading is a strategic intent for the next 3 years. We are putting together a parent session on how to help your child to learn to read and develop a love of reading as they progress through their primary years. This will be one not to be missed. More info will follow.
