Explorer Informer
October 19, 2026
Dear Del Sur Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It’s hard to believe we’ve completed our first two months of school at the Stone Ranch campus. Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and support as we navigate new routines and logistics. Your partnership with our teachers and staff makes a meaningful difference, and it’s wonderful to see our Explorers continuing to thrive, build relationships, and grow in their learning.
Celebrating Del Sur’s Outstanding Results!
Last week, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported on newly released state accountability data, highlighting how schools across San Diego County performed on several important measures, including chronic absenteeism, student belonging, and state assessment results in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science.
I am incredibly proud to share that Del Sur ranked second in Poway Unified School District across these measures for the 2025–26 school year! This is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of the strong learning community we have built together.
These results represent so much more than numbers. They reflect the dedication of our teachers and support staff, the partnership of our families, the generosity and commitment of our Del Sur Foundation, and, most importantly, the perseverance and hard work of our Explorers. Together, we continue to create a school where students feel a sense of belonging, are challenged to grow, and are supported in reaching their full potential.
You can read the San Diego Union-Tribune article here and explore Del Sur’s results on the California School Dashboard.
Looking Ahead
Our annual Halloween Parade is Friday, October 30, at 8:45 a.m., and students are encouraged to wear costumes. Parents are welcome to dress up, too! Parade details and the parade map were shared last week, and I will resend the information in a separate email later this week.
A big thank-you to the parents who joined our first School Site Council meeting last week. I look forward to partnering with this group throughout the year.
We also have several exciting opportunities to come together as a community in the weeks ahead, including our Halloween Parade, a Fall Festival hosted by our Foundation at Stone Ranch, the Scholastic Book Fair, parent-teacher conferences, and classroom celebrations. Our newsletters are also available on our school website for easy reference.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Warmly,
Mrs. Ganesan
Proud Principal, Del Sur Elementary School

Attendance at Del Sur: Everyday Counts!
Thank you to many of our families who are taking advantage of our OCIS contracts that are available for students when they are missing multiple days of school for trips, being sick, etc. When students miss school, it not only impacts their learning but also results in a loss of funding that supports our programs and services. Thank you for your continued efforts to support strong attendance. We also recognize that when students are ill, it’s important they stay home to rest and recover. If your family has a planned absence or your Explorer is sick for a few days, please consider an OCIS contract. Just last week, our school lost over $9,500 due to absences.
Quest for More Annual Fundraiser
You can find out more about our Quest for More Fundraiser here or below in the attachment. We just kicked off the fundraiser and are currently at 39% of our goal. Students will get to participate in a very special celebrate if we meet our goal! More info to come!
