The Roots of Zitzman
π May Focus: Celebrating the 8 Pillars of Success! π
Throughout this school year, weβve focused on one pillar each month β from Citizenship to Resilience β helping our students root deeply into strong character and rise into their best selves. In May, we are pulling all 8 Pillars of Success together! Now is the time to celebrate the strong, thoughtful, and capable students and staff we have built throughout the year.
Each pillar matters every day, and together, they create the foundation of success not just at school, but in life. π
Here are a few ways families can practice the 8 Pillars at home this month:
-
Citizenship: Volunteer together or pick up litter in your neighborhood.
-
Collaboration: Cook a meal or complete a puzzle as a family team.
-
Creativity: Start a "design challenge" β build something fun out of recyclables!
-
Critical Thinking: Talk through a problem together and brainstorm solutions.
-
Responsibility: Let your child take the lead on a household chore for a week.
-
Respectfulness: Practice using kind words and active listening at the dinner table.
-
Communication: Hold a family meeting where everyone shares a highlight of their day.
-
Resilience: Encourage each other to keep trying when something feels hard.
Letβs finish strong β rooted in character and rising toward success! π±π¬π
β¨ Special for the Next Two Weeks: Staff Shout Outs!
Instead of our usual weekly poll, we are excited to offer a special opportunity to finish the year strong β with Staff Shout Outs!
For the next two weeks, students and families can fill out a simple form to recognize a staff member who has helped them root into learning and rise with confidence this year. Let's lift each other up and celebrate the incredible people who make Zitzman so special! ππΏ
Let's end the year with kindness, gratitude, and lots of smiles!
For the adults at home:
The Parent Shout Out Form is a chance for parents and guardians to say thank you to a Zitzman staff member who has made a positive impact on their child this year. Whether itβs a teacher, a para, an office team member, or any adult in the building, your words of appreciation will be shared with them to brighten their day and show how they helped students grow and succeed.
For the kiddos at home:
The Student Shout Out Form gives students their own voice to recognize a staff member who has supported, encouraged, or inspired them this year. Students can share who made a difference for them β whether it was a teacher who believed in them, a staff member who cheered them on, or someone who just made them smile when they needed it most.
