Eckville Elementary News
Parents/Guardians December 2025
Principal's Message
As we head into December, our school is settling back into routine and finding a steady rhythm again. Thank you to everyone who came out to our parent-teacher interviews last week, and also to those who were able to attend our November end of the month assembly where we always recognize our awesome students!
This month brings many moments to celebrate kindness, connection, and community. We’ll be focusing on gratitude and generosity as part of our character education work, and students will be encouraged to notice the good around them and look for small ways to contribute to it.
We want to thank the Eckville Manor Charitable Society for their donation to our breakfast program last month. Their donation will help us to bring more healthy snacks to our universal program, accessible to all students, each and every day. The Eckville Municipal Library will be starting a noon hour book club in the school in December, with days set up for Grade 1-3 and Grade 4-6. Students have been able to sign up at the school office over the past couple of weeks and we are so excited to get started this week!
December is always a busy month, but also a meaningful one. Thank you for your continued support, your communication, and the care you show our school community. We look forward to a great month of learning and events before we head into the winter break.
-Mr. Jay Cottell
THANK YOU SCHOOL COUNCIL and ECKVILLE FUNDRAISING SOCIETY!
Our School Council and the Eckville Fundraising Society both support Eckville Elementary School in many ways! We meet almost once a month and hear reports from our Chairperson, our Fundraising Society, our School Board Trustee and our Principal.
In November, funds were approved to support field trip transportation costs as well as Alien In-Line Skating from last month! A new set of Chromebooks to replace an aging-out set was approved for next fall and we look forward to the Telus Mobile Planetarium (Gr 3-6) in January, also supported by the Eckville Fundraising Society! Thank you!

7 Sacred Teachings – Character Education at Eckville Elementary
As we step into December, we’ll take a short pause from our Seven Sacred Teachings cycle and spend the month highlighting Gratitude and Generosity. This time of year naturally invites reflection on what we appreciate and how we care for one another, and it gives us great opportunities to notice and celebrate the many small acts of kindness happening across our school each day.
Student Mobile Device Usage - Ministerial Order #014/2024
Reminder: WCPS Admin Procedure 145: USE OF PERSONAL MOBILE DEVICES and SOCIAL MEDIA guides student access to mobile devices and social media in schools. Our goal is to help students and teachers learn how to use these tools in safe, respectful, and appropriate ways. Supporting our students in navigating the ever-changing world of digital tools is vital for preparing them for life outside of the classroom. Click the link for the complete document.
School Visitors - Check In at Main Office
Just a reminder to everyone that all school visitors need to check in at the main office. When students are being picked up early, please come to the office and let us know, then we can call or walk down to the classroom. This helps limit classroom disruptions and lets us ensure we know who are always in the building as visitors, in case of emergency.
Student Medications
Please ensure all student medications are accompanied by a district required parent consent form. This includes everything from inhalers and epi-pens to tylenol, antibiotics and advil. The consent forms are available at the office and are required for any and all student medications in the school.
