From Doan's Desk... From Doan's Desk...

I hope that students and families are ready for the upcoming extra days off next week.

  • Monday, November 10th there will be no classes as it is designated as a work day for teachers.
  • Tuesday, November 11th is a federal holiday in observance of Veterans Day.

After this four day weekend, there isn’t really much left for the first semester. In two weeks there will be the next break which comprises the entire week of the Thanksgiving holiday (November 24th-28th). Then there is only two weeks of school in December before final exams begin on Tuesday, December 16th through Friday, December 19th. All total I think that puts us at less than 20 days of regular classes left in the semester.

It’s been a great year so far and we look forward to continuing to do great things with the time we have left.

2025-26 BVSD Secondary Schools Breakfast & Lunch Menu

Reminder: Breakfast is free every day at school!

We want to remind all BVSD families that in addition to free lunch, we offer a full breakfast every morning at schools. Breakfast schedules vary by site, so be sure to check in with your school office about how and when it is served at your school. You can find the 2-week breakfast cycle on our website, or toggle to “Breakfast” on our interactive menu calendar to see what is served each day!

Coyotes Feed the Pack

Our school will be organizing a Thanksgiving Food Drive called “Coyotes Feed the Pack.” We’re collecting non-perishable food items to help meet the growing need in our community right now.

The drive will run from Thursday, November 6th through the end of the day on Friday, November 21st. Students should bring items into their first or second period class, or they can be dropped in designated bins located at the front entrance, the main office, the counseling office, or in the hallway on the first floor of the C-Wing. All donations will be delivered to one of our local food banks prior to Thanksgiving.

Items of Need

  1. Canned Fruits and Vegetables

  2. Staples (rice, beans, tortillas, pasta, cereals)

  3. Proteins (canned meats, nut butters)

  4. Ready-To-Eat Meals (soups, stews, chili)

  5. Cooking & Baking (cooking oils, flour, masa, spices)

This effort isn't just about giving food, it’s about showing that our community looks out for one another. Please remember, hunger isn’t always visible; it can live quietly in our neighborhoods.

If you’d like to contribute additional items or volunteer to help with sorting and delivery, please let Dr. Cara Maronek (cara.maronek@bvsd.org) or Jesse Jensen (jesse.jensen@bvsd.org).

Thank you for helping our Coyotes make a difference this holiday season.

Community Food and Basic Needs Resources

We know that the current government shutdown and pause in SNAP benefits may create additional stress for some families. Please know that there are local resources available to help ensure everyone has access to food and essential items.

The Well Mind Connection has shared a list of community resources, including local food pantries, mobile food distributions, and assistance programs throughout Boulder County. You can find these and other helpful links HERE.

Here are some local resources for families:

  • Colorado 211: Call 2-1-1- or 866-760-6489 or visit www.211colorado.org
  • Feeding Colorado: Visit www.feedingcolorado.org/find-food or email info@feedingcolorado.org
  • Hunger Free Colorado Food Resource Hotline: 855-855-4626

If your family could use extra support, or if you know someone who might, please take a moment to explore these options.

Our school community cares deeply about the well-being of every student and family.
