A SHORT NOTE FROM DR. DAVID CHRISTOPHER

Happy September, WCASD!

We are just a few days into the new school year, and it has been wonderful to see our schools full of energy again.

On the first day, I had the chance to visit all 17 of our schools after starting my morning by dropping my own son off. Throughout the district, I saw students reconnecting, families sharing those first-day hugs and goodbyes, and staff welcoming students back after months of preparation.

I am grateful to everyone who helped make the start of the year a strong one, and to our families and community for your continued partnership and support.

Whether this was your family’s very first first day, your last first day, or one of many in between, I hope the year is off to a great start.

Here’s to a wonderful September and I'll see you as we walk the WCASD Way together!

SUMMER WAY MAKERS SET THE STAGE FOR A GREAT YEAR SUMMER WAY MAKERS SET THE STAGE FOR A GREAT YEAR

Before welcoming students and staff back, we were proud to recognize two special Summer Way Makers, Hilda Matos, District Offices, and Jason Medley, Facilities & Operations.

Hilda’s support, problem-solving, and commitment to helping teams across WCASD succeed make her an invaluable colleague. Jason’s leadership throughout busy summers of renovations and school preparations helps ensure our buildings and staff are ready to welcome students!

A warm WCASD welcome to our newest teachers and staff! During New Teacher Induction, they had the chance to connect with colleagues, hear from district leaders, explore available resources, and get to know the WCASD community before the school year began.

We’re so glad to have them on our team and excited for all they’ll bring to our students and schools this year!

This summer, the West Chester Area Education Foundation helped 30 WCASD students attend Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW), where they gained hands-on experience in business, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Students described the experience as a chance to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, tackle real-world challenges, and discover new possibilities for their futures.

Thank you to WCAEF and its supporters for creating opportunities that help our students learn, lead, and grow beyond the classroom!
