STEM FAMILY SNAPSHOT
Information for STEM families for March 14-18, 2022
Principal Updates
Title I
If you applied early in the year and circumstances have changed in your household, please consider reapplying. We are in desperate need of lunch applications in order to qualify for Title I funding. Without Title I funding we will lose a teacher, tutor, and many resources we use daily to help our students grow academically. Please apply at lunchapplication.com & help us keep this valuable funding. We must achieve 40% by April and are only at 31% at this time.
EOG Dates
Thursday, 5/26- Grades 3-8 ELA EOG
Wednesday, 6/1-Grades 5 & 8 Science EOG & Grade 3 RTA
Thursday, 6/2-Grades 3-8 Math EOG
Friday, 6/3- Grade 3 ELA Retest
Thursday, 6/16- Grades 3-8 retest
Retests will be given this year in grades 3-8 for scholars who score just shy of proficient. Proficiency helps determine placement and classes for the following year. The retests helped many of our students in the past. *70% of our scholars were proficient after the retest in 18-19* More information to follow.
Morning Drop Off
If you are dropping off students in the morning car rider line, please pull all the way down to the first orange cone so that we can keep cars off the road.
Enrollment Eligibility:
Each year the enrollment committee reviews student discipline, attendance, & academics as outlined in the Learning Compact that is signed at the start of each school year. The committee reviews this to ensure that those who want to continue at OCSS have the opportunity to do so or return to their home school. If a contract was issued at the mid-year, the committee will review for next year's eligibility. We have had a great deal of interest in our 6th grade. We will hold an information session for parents and students wishing to remain at OCSS to explain the transition.
Mini Medley/Fun Run
Our scholars will compete in this Saturday's countywide Fun Run & Mini Medley. Teams will check-in outside of Central Elementary and while you cannot run alongside, we encourage you to find a spot on the course and cheer our Eagles on! Be sure to check the class dojo for updates.
