SPIRIT WEEK
We are excited to announce our Spring Spirit Week. Please note that students are in no way obligated to participate in any of the following activities.
Monday, June 9, 2025 - WMS Pride Club presents Pride Day
June is Pride Month, an internationally-recognized celebration which recognizes and supports LGBTQIA+ individuals. Pride celebrations promote understanding, respect, and inclusion. We remind all that WMS is a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, and each student is a valued member of our school community. Students and staff who choose to participate may wear rainbow colors showing their allyship, or clothing with rainbows or positive messaging.
Tuesday, June 10, 2025 - WMS PE Staff presents Blue and White Day
Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Livermore has meticulously planned a fun-filled Field Day. All students have been assigned to wear either Blue or White. We are excited to see which classrooms will earn some Field Day hardware, and which school wide color comes out on top. A huge thank you goes out to both of our wonderful PE teachers for spearheading the efforts and planning of a brand new WMS tradition.
Wednesday, June 11, 2025 - WMS Main Office presents Decades Day
A huge thanks to our Main Office Staff for sponsoring Decades Day. This will be Wilmington Middle School’s chance to travel through time. A student’s grade level will correspond with a decade:
- Grade 6 - 1960s
- Grade 7 - 1970s
- Grade 8 - 1980s
Let’s see which grade level represents the best!
Thursday, June 12, 2025 - WMS Student Council presents Idiom Day
Lastly, our grade 8 student leaders who comprise our Student Council are proud to sponsor Idiom Day. Students will come to school dressed to visually represent an idiom. This encourages them to think creatively about the literal and figurative meanings of idioms.
Some examples:
"A chip on their shoulder": A student could tape a potato chip to their shoulder.
"Raining cats and dogs": They might wear rain boots and carry an umbrella, with small toy cats and dogs attached to their clothing or umbrella.
"Butterflies in their stomach": A student could wear a shirt with butterflies attached to the stomach area, or even draw them on their midsection.
8th GRADE FIELD TRIP
A message from Mrs. DeStefano:
We survived the heat & we were all hot and hungry by lunch time. I am proud of how well this group represented not only Wilmington Middle School but also the entire Wilmington community. I’ve received compliments from the tour guides as well as the service staff.
Grazie for your support with this trip (as well as our chaperones, nurse & WMS admin!). Hopefully students can teach you something new next time you head into that area of Boston!
