Celebrating Black History Month Through Literature at Paine Elementary
Paine Elementary School first graders in Mrs. Carlson’s and Mrs. Moore’s classes are celebrating Black History Month through meaningful literary experiences. Students have participated in thoughtfully selected read-alouds that highlight the voices, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans, while also introducing them to works by acclaimed Black authors.
Through these stories, students are building both literacy skills and cultural awareness, gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse individuals who have helped shape our nation. These classroom experiences foster important conversations about history, empathy, and respect while reinforcing that representation in literature matters.
Paine Elementary is proud to provide learning opportunities that honor diversity, encourage curiosity, and help every student see themselves reflected in the stories they read.

Cahaba Fifth Grade Robotics Students Race to the Finish!
Cahaba 5th grade students recently put their skills to the test in STEM Lab during their first grade-level robotics competition—and what an exciting event it was! With 32 teams competing against one another, the race through the obstacle course was incredibly close. Seven teams completed the course in under 29 seconds, and eleven more teams finished in less than a minute. The teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance on display made this competition a thrilling success.
Congratulations to our top finishers! With an average time of 23.04 seconds, 3rd place went to Michael Stults, Anna Mills, and Jackson Ames. 2nd place, with an average time of 22.03 seconds, was earned by Fisher Mosley and Harper Lindsay. Taking 1st place with an impressive average time of 14.76 seconds were Bane Norman, Mila Amari, and Tyler Nelson! We are so proud of all our 5th graders for their hard work and determination. Reaching the Summit: Preparing for ACAP Success
Cahaba’s 2nd–5th grade teachers are climbing with purpose as they prepare students for this spring’s ACAP assessment. In a recent data workshop led by Math Coach Maggie Burns and Reading Coach Christi Watts, teachers analyzed ACAP practice data to identify strengths, pinpoint areas for growth, and plan targeted instruction. Like studying a map before reaching a mountain summit, teachers used data to guide their next steps.
Through collaboration and thoughtful planning, our teachers are equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to reach their academic peak. We are proud of the intentional work happening behind the scenes to help every child succeed.

TCSF Casino Night - A Huge Success
Trussville City Schools Foundation’s 7th Annual Casino Night transformed Ferus into “TrussVegas” for an unforgettable evening filled with casino games, great food from the HTHS Culinary Arts, live portraits with the HTHS talented art students, and exciting silent auction. The Whistle Stop Garden Shop team created a stunning Bellagio-inspired atmosphere that truly brought the night to life. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the event raised over $67,770 to benefit students and teachers across Trussville City Schools. It was truly a night to remember, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
Trussville City Schools Foundation is excited to once again offer a special opportunity to leave your mark at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium with a personalized engraved brick, installed in the walkways near the concession stands.
Individuals, families, and businesses can show their Husky pride while honoring graduating seniors, new kindergarten students, favorite teachers, staff members, or loved ones. Bricks may include names, dates, or a meaningful message.
Engraved pavers are $60 each for a 4” x 8” brick with 1–3 lines of text (18–20 characters per line, including spaces). Visit the stadium entrance to see past donor bricks and samples on display.
