D93 Family Update
April 17, 2025

April Cornerstone: Integrity
In a week that started with tragedy, I have seen time and time again, selfless acts of service from our staff members, from our students, and from our families and community. This spirit of unity, this commitment to each other, this selfless sacrifice is what makes District 93 great. Thank you for being the kind of people who place the needs of others--our students, our staff members, our neighbors-- above your own.
Thank you for making District 93 great.
- Scott Woolstenhulme, Superintendent

Annual Engagement Surveys
Each spring, we ask parents, employees and students to participate in our annual engagement surveys. The information that we receive back from these surveys helps us to monitor our progress on our key indicators and to set focus priorities for the coming school year.
- Parent Engagement Survey is now available to take at d93.org/parent_engagement. We would love to hear back from you.
- Student Engagement Surveys will be available for students from May 5th - May 15th. Parents may preview the survey and if they prefer, choose whether to have their children withdraw from the survey or take the survey.at home instead. Note: You will need to log into the student survey using your child's school Gmail address.

Special Board Meeting for Public Input - Monday, April 21, 2025
The Board and Superintendent Woolstenhulme held a detailed discussion about boundary planning in preparation for the opening of Willow Creek Elementary in 2026. A major point of consideration was whether to relocate—a program currently limited in its growth potential due to space constraints—into Ammon Elementary's building. This move could reduce the need for future boundary disruptions and better utilize existing space.
Three key benefits of relocating Praxium to Ammon were identified:
Increased student choice and opportunity for expansion into higher grades.
Efficient use of facilities, especially amid flat overall enrollment but overcrowding in modular classrooms.
Cost savings, with a projected $50,000 offset from the larger facility and shared staffing resources.
Survey results showed majority of support from both staff (71%) and parents (57%), with some opposition rooted in the historical and emotional significance of Ammon Elementary and concerns about community disruption, traffic, and transparency. The district emphasized that the building would not be closed but repurposed, continuing to serve students.
The emotional impact on Ammon Faculty, who have built strong bonds through years of service and challenges, was acknowledged with deep respect. The board agreed to host a public input meeting on April 21 at Ammon Elementary, allowing the community—and particularly the faculty—to present feedback directly before a final decision is made by the end of the school year.

This week’s D93 Extra Mile Award is all about heart. Ucon Elementary Awarded INL STEM Lab Grant
At the start of the school year, Ucon Elementary Principal Mr. Murdoch shared a bold vision—to create a STEM Lab that would provide students with hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.
With the support of the PTO, Ucon staff members, and a few dedicated parents, an impact proposal was created and submitted for the highly competitive Idaho National Laboratory (INL) STEM Lab Grant. Schools across East Idaho apply each year, making the award especially meaningful.
This week, the PTO received exciting news: Ucon Elementary’s proposal received the highest score of all submissions and was awarded the full $15,000 grant to build the STEM Lab!
In addition to the grant, Ucon Elementary also raised $4,000 through concessions at the Mountain America Center, bringing the total funding to $19,000 dedicated to this project.
This funding will bring the dream of a fully equipped STEM Lab to life—giving Ucon students innovative, hands-on learning experiences that will fuel curiosity, creativity, and a love for STEM.
Special thanks to INL and to everyone who contributed time and energy to make this vision a reality.
