IBDP May 2026 Newsletter IBDP May 2026 Newsletter

What's going on in the world of IBDP at OHS?

🎊Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎊 🎊Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎊

To the IBDP class of 2026: you did it! You not only made it through the IBDP, but you made it through these last four years at OHS. I hope you all feel incredibly proud of yourselves, because I know we all do!

It's difficult to try to find the right words to explain how I feel about each graduating senior class. How can I possibly capture just how much of an impact you've had on me during our time together?! So, here is my attempt: I feel joyful, because I have been and continue to be able to celebrate you all for the hard work you've put into the DP these past two years. I feel honored, because I've been able to watch you all grow so much. And I feel extremely lucky, because I've had the privilege of being your coordinator, your teacher, and knowing you all for the wonderful young people you are. Each of you bring something special and unique to our little cohort, and without you, we would not feel as whole. I cannot wait to see what you all accomplish as you move foward in your college and professional careers. And I truly mean it when I say that you better come back and visit! We will all miss you and want to hear about your impressive lives as you venture forward into this next chapter. Congratulations, Class of 2026! 🎉

Shout out to my Math Analysis seniors - thanks for sticking with me through my first-year teaching IB. I know we had some bumps along the way, but you all persevered and rose to the challenge. I appreciate each one of you and wish you all the best. -Mrs. H

📝 2026 DP Wrap Up--You Made It! 📝 📝 2026 DP Wrap Up--You Made It! 📝

You did it! You made it through IB and IB Exams--congratulations! Now that we're done with the 2026 school year and all things IB are coming to a close, I wanted to share a bit of information about final tasks to make sure you wrap up all things IB. You did recieve an email with this information, but I wanted to share it with you again here.

Transcript Request Form

Transcript Requests

First, if you are a SENIOR and want your IB scores sent to the university you are attending, please make sure to fill out the Google Form for transcript requests if you have not already done so. Similar to the SAT/ACT, a university, college or admissions centre may require evidence of a candidate’s results directly from the IB. On request, the results for a candidate can be sent directly to the institution in electronic or paper format (a transcript of grades). I can submit one request on your behalf at no cost and will need exact information to request this for you. I need this completed prior to June 1! If this is not completed before then, transcript requests are YOUR responsibility and will incur a $19 fee per the IB. You can scan the QR code or follow the above link to access the form to complete this.

Accessing Scores & EUR (Enquiry Upon Results) Requests

IB Scores will be released on July 6th at 2:30 pm for students. To access scores, you need to go to candidates.ibo.org and enter your assigned personal code and pin. Please make sure to download the digital copy of your PIN that was sent to you on April 16! The code to access your scores is a strange combination of letters/numbers/symbols, so it is easiest to copy/paste it to access your scores so you don't accidentally get locked out of the account (it will refresh, but I know it is frustrating not to be able to see your scores temporarily!).

If you are not satisfied with your scores and believe you earned a higher mark, you may submit an EUR (Enquiry Upon Results) request, at $128 per request. Requesting this will allow for the student’s externally assessed coursework to be re-marked. This will not include the student’s Internal Assessment (IA), and does not include multiple-choice components of an examination in a sciences subject or components for which a mark has been carried over from a previous session. A re-mark cannot be requested for individual components.

EURs can result in a higher grade, lower grade, or no grade change at all. It is the student’s responsibility to understand that requesting an EUR comes with that risk. If the student is not sure if they should move forward with an EUR in any given subject, they should reach out to the DP Coordinator. Requesting an EUR is NOT advised if the student is more than a couple of points away from the next highest grade. If the student obtains a higher grade as a result, the $128 fee per request will be reimbursed. If the grade is unchanged or lowered, the student is responsible for the fee.

Please see this document for further information regarding EUR requests. To make an EUR request, scan the QR code above to access the Google Form, or follow this link for the form.

IBDP Exit Survey

Students, please fill out the quick exit survey to reflect on your IBDP journey if you have not done so already. If you are a senior, please fill this out reflecting on the past two years in your IBDP classes! If you are a junior, and you will still be in IBDP classes next year, you can wait to complete this then--if you are done taking IBDP classes this year as a junior, you are more than welcome to complete this now. Click here for the exit survey (or scan the QR code) so we can keep in contact and brag about all your successes you will undoubtedly have! It will also provide me with a personal email to contact you about any follow up information that may arise. Thank you!

🙂That's It! 🙂

That's all for the IBDP wrap-up information! Thank you all for a fantastic year; seniors, I will miss you greatly! Juniors, I look forward to one more year with you!

Students enrolled in IB Diploma Programme courses at OHS will fall into one of two categories:

Course Candidate: this is a student who is taking one or a few IBDP courses; they can take their IBDP exams at the end of the course (May) to potentially earn college credits.

Full Diploma Programme Candidate: this is a student who is taking almost all of their classes as IBDP courses (6 courses plus the IB Core course). These students will work to obtain the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma at the end of their two years in the IBDP. Like course candidates, they will take exams upon the completion of their DP courses (May) which help them earn the Diploma and potential college credits. All assessments are required to be eligible for the diploma.

To earn the IB Diploma, students must complete the following:

  • Complete 3 (or 2) Standard Level Courses (SL)

  • Complete 3 (or 4) Higher Level Courses (HL)

  • Complete IB Core which is made up of the Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Activity, and Service hours

  • Complete all required IB assessments, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and the DP standardized, seated exams in May

  • Earn at least 24 points total (points come from course final scores, scaled 1-7)

IB Assessments are comprised of:

  • Seated exams in May (externally assessed)

  • Internal Assessments (completed in the course, internally assessed by OHS IB teachers, & sent to IB for moderation)

  • Students complete 2-3 internal assessments in their junior year, and the rest during their senior year

  • IB DP English also has the HL essay, completed in the course, but externally assessed by IB

  • IB DP Music and Visual Arts have uploaded performance, visual, & written components, externally assessed by IB (in lieu of a seated exam)

  • Results for IB assessments are published in July of the year the assessment is completed. If students do well on their assessments, they could potentially earn college credit! (Students should always check with their university to see which credits will be taken by the school.)
