Dear East China School District Families and Community,

Welcome back! As we kick off another exciting school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership. I hope your summer was restful and joyful—and as you’ll see below, ours was busy and productive!

From the moment the final bell rang in June until the first day of school, our district was hard at work with continued improvements made possible by the bond you so generously supported in March of 2020—just before the COVID-19 shutdown.

This summer brought major progress across the district:

Pine River Elementary saw important site work improvements to enhance safety and accessibility.
St. Clair River Elementary (formerly St. Clair Middle School) underwent extensive renovations to welcome the elementary students transitioning from Gearing Elementary.
The St. Clair 6–12 Campus experienced major upgrades throughout the entire campus to prepare for its new role in being the home to both middle and high school students.

These projects—and many more—are thanks to the incredible support of our community. The bond has allowed us to invest in top-notch facilities where our students and staff can learn, grow, and thrive.

In addition to physical improvements, the bond provided funding for vital technology upgrades across the entire district. We’re proud to now be a 1:1 district—meaning every student has access to their own Chromebook. In our elementary schools, each classroom has a full set of devices, and beginning in 6th grade, every student receives a personal Chromebook that stays with them through graduation. The final phase of the bond projects will continue and be completed next summer.

None of this would be possible without you—our community. The support you've shown has made a lasting impact on the future of our schools, and we are incredibly grateful.

Pine River Elementary School

Over the summer, Pine River received brand-new sidewalks, fresh asphalt, and crisp parking lot lines and directionals. These improvements make the school safer, more accessible, and ready to welcome students back for another great year!

St. Clair River Elementary

This summer, St. Clair River Elementary underwent exciting renovations to welcome our Young 5s through 5th grade students. Improvements included site work, new carpeting, updated interior lighting, new furniture, playground equipment, and upgraded classroom HVAC units—creating a brighter, more comfortable, and engaging learning environment for our students.

SC Campus

Over the summer, the SC Campus saw some exciting improvements! A new kitchen and updated serving lines in the commons area were added, the natatorium received renovations along with a new HVAC unit, the weight room was refreshed, and a new boiler system was installed to keep the building warm and efficient.
