Tech You Can Do ... this week
December 11, 2023
The following blog is a highlight from "Tech You Can Do", my main blog where I share a more detailed explanation behind my adventures in education. I hope to inspire you to incorporate technology & it enhances the learning in your classroom.
Study Habits Your Students Can Do
Helping students learn is my life's work - it's the work of all teachers. Teaching 7th & 8th grade social studies for 7 years also taught me that students need help studying. So often, I find teachers make the assumption students "know" how to study. Giving them a study guide isn't enough. Teaching them specific - and strategic - study skills is necessary. Let's help them - I'm sharing some strategies in today's blog.
TYCD: Resources is a companion blog I write designed to be quick overviews of interesting and helpful resources I come across. Be sure to check out the labels on the far right side to better guide your exploration of the resources I've added.
Ok ... snow is NOT my favorite time of year. I don't care for the cold temps & I really do not like driving in it. BUT ... digital snowflakes ARE fun! What if I told you this website allows you to make digital paper snowflakes? Yep!
Featured Resources & Activities:
Tech with Littles
IF you can get past the cutest gingerbreads ever! and their dance, you'll find a super fun Google Slides activity for your littles. Put a gingerbread man together, spelling, and some gumdrop math. So. Much. Fun!
Templates for Teachers
This interactive activity allows students to dress up themselves in a variety of costume choices in order to break into Santa's workshop. Students are then tasked with writing about their adventure.
Wakelet
Winter is coming ... if you are looking for activities to match this theme, check out my winter holiday Wakelet.

12 Ways to Help Students Identify Their Emotions
Edutopia is back with another great teacher help. These days, so many people struggle with managing their emotions. I'm not 100% sure why - and I'm sure we can all "point fingers" in many different directions. I'm equally sure we can agree our kids need help. And truly direct instruction is probably required in this area.
This Edutopia article is "a toolkit of teacher-tested ideas to help build students’ ability to understand and express their feelings."
