Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Pence! Included below are resources that can help your student become a stronger reader! Please take a moment to look over these and have your student read-aloud to you, a sibling, the dog, whoever! :)

Your student will be receiving small group, 20 minute explicit instruction with us every day. While in our room, he/she will not miss any core instruction. Our goal is to have 100% of students grow in their reading abilities. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!

We Are Working On...

2nd Grade

In 2nd grade reading groups we have been working on reading heart words, short vowels, blends and digraphs and overall decoding and fluency.

3rd Grade

In 3rd grade reading groups we have been working on reading and decoding vowel teams. We are working on automaticity, decoding and fluency.

4th Grade

In 4th grade reading groups we have been reviewing predictable vowel teams, learning unpredictable vowel teams, and how to identify the syllable type in words. We are working on our overall decoding and fluency as well as our confidence as readers.
