Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families,
We’ve had a busy and productive week here at Hembree Springs! On Thursday morning, we celebrated our Exceptional Children in a special ceremony. It was a truly memorable occasion to recognize the achievements of our students, and I’m proud to say that this marks the first of what will be an annual event at Hembree Springs.
Later that evening, I had the privilege of attending the board meeting at Centennial High School, where I had the opportunity to showcase the incredible progress and accomplishments of our school community. I am honored and incredibly proud to be leading such a dedicated and hardworking team of students and staff. Each day here is a blessing, and I look forward to what the future holds. A huge thank you to our families for making Hembree Springs such a special place!
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the GADOE survey. We’ve exceeded the 50% participation requirement! Your support and feedback mean the world to us, and we’re grateful for your involvement.
Link to Survey: https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=1704BCF1
We would also be grateful if you could join us for the Title One Input Meeting next Tuesday, March 18th. We have two opportunities to attend the meeting: 7:40 AM in person or 5:15 PM online. Your input is invaluable as we continue to work together to improve and grow Hembree Springs!
Looking ahead, I’m excited about our Talent Show next Thursday, March 20th, at 6:00 PM. We can’t wait to see the amazing talent our Hawks have to showcase. It’s going to be a fantastic evening, and we hope to see you there for a night to remember!
Attention Fifth Grade Parents:
As your child’s time in elementary school comes to an end, we want to celebrate their accomplishments. If you're interested in purchasing a yard sign for your child, please see the information below.
Lastly, the weather forecast for Saturday night is looking pretty severe. Please take care and stay safe.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Counselor's Corner
Hello Parents,
As we move into spring, it's a great time to check in on your child's well-being and academic progress. Here are a few tips to support them through the remainder of the school year:
✅Encourage a Growth Mindset - Remind your child that mistakes are part of learning. Praise their effort, persistence, and problem-solving skills.
✅Maintain Consistent Routines - With spring break and warmer weather approaching, routines can get disrupted. Keeping a regular schedule for homework, bedtime, and screen time helps children stay on track.
✅Talk About Feelings - Ask open-ended questions about their day. Help them name their emotions and find positive ways to express them.
✅Teach Healthy Coping Skills - Deep breathing, journaling, physical activity, and creative outlets can help children manage stress.
✅Stay Engaged with School - Check in with teachers, review homework together, and encourage your child to participate in school activities. Your involvement shows them that education is a priority.
If you have any concerns or need additional support, feel free to reach out. Wishing your family a wonderful and successful March!
Warmly,
Shannon Reynolds

School Governance Council Information
Parents,
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has both parent/guardian and teacher positions open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
• Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
• Manage the Request for Flexibility process
• Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations • Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
• Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form https://www.fultonschools.org/our-district/charter-system/elections. Forms will be available on Monday, February 5th.
We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 28th and voting will take place April 16 – April 23. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or our Charter System Overview https://www.fultonschools.org/our-district/charter-system/charter-system-overview
Sincerely,
Nancy Lahey
Estimados padres,
Sinceramente,
Nancy Lahey
Attention Hembree Springs Recyclers!!
The Art Department needs your trash. Please send in any bubble wrap mailers (i.e. Amazon). These help keep the precious clay creations safe on their journey home. Also, please send in empty cereal boxes or cereal box type cardboard for upcoming weaving lessons. If you have any old CDS you would like to get rid, we will take those as well. Thank you so much for all of your support.
Warm Regards,
Laura W. Stowers
Laura Stowers

Beanstack Reading App
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!

All Stars Wanted
Each week the PE department will choose 4 All Star Athletes (2 students & 2 staff members). If your student enjoys hiking, swimming, baseball, softball, football, biking, etc. Please email a picture to marzetti@fultonschools.org.

Ms. Marzetti
