Parent Update
Watertown High School
Parent Update 4.25.25
Greetings WHS Families,
It was a great week at WHS as the weather has improved and we are finally able to have our Spring sports season outdoors! Be sure to review the updates below as there are many important events, celebrations, and upcoming opportunities in the weeks ahead.
Have a great weekend!
Student Parking Reminder
WHS administration has continued to receive complaints regarding the student parking lot at dismissal each day. Please talk with your students and remind them that they are to only use the far right lane, regardless of which direction they are turning, when exiting directly onto Endeavor Drive. The left lane is intended for vehicles entering the lot. Students that are found failing to comply with this may lose parking pass privileges for the remainder of the school year.
UW Direct Admit
Current Junior Students/Families (Class of '26)
As you are aware, Watertown High School is participating in the Direct Admit Wisconsin program for the Class of 2026. UW Direct Admit is an opportunity for 11th grade students to be automatically admitted to participating University of Wisconsin system schools free of charge. Direct Admit Wisconsin offers early and proactive admission to participating Universities of Wisconsin for rising seniors at participating Wisconsin high schools.
In order to participate, 11th grade families must log into Skyward Family Access and “opt-in” by Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Directions are attached on how to locate the Direct Admit Wisconsin in Skyward Family Access. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. True, WHS counselor, at (920) 262-7500 x6825 or truea@mywusd.org
Student Engagement Survey
This is a friendly reminder for all students and parents to complete the School Perceptions survey you received on your email address if you have not already! The parent survey should be completed by Thursday, May 1st and the student survey completed by Friday, May 9th.
School Perceptions is a company in Slinger, Wisconsin that works to help schools gather data to make our schools better and ensure every student’s success after high school graduation. The ‘Student Life Survey’ includes questions for students to answer about your experiences at school, how you feel, how you spend your free time, and your plans for the future.
This survey takes between 10-15 minutes. We just ask that you take your time and answer honestly.
School to Career Program 25-26
Current sophomores and juniors who are interested in joining the School to Career Program for the 25-26 school year, should sign up in Edficiency for ELT on April 30th in the commons to see if you qualify. Students who registered for the School to Career/Youth Apprenticeship Program during registration will automatically be assigned to the meeting on April 30th. A virtual family meeting will follow on May 13th at 6 PM.
Wetland Education Opportunity
Free Screening: An Invitation to Wonder: Waubesa Wetlands
We partnered with the Rock River Coalition to show a screening of “An Invitation to Wonder: Waubesa Wetlands” on Wednesday, April 30th, 6pm to 8pm at the Towne Cinema in Watertown.
The Rock River Coalition has made this opportunity free to our students and the community. The film will be followed by a panel discussion including the filmmaker (24 years old) and a handful of wetland experts. The discussion is planned with high school students as the target audience.
If interested, please consider attending this event.
Prom 2025
Saturday, May 3
Prom is Saturday, May 3 in the WHS Commons from 8:00-11:30, with the Post Prom to follow at the Elks Lodge from 11:30-2:00 am in downtown Watertown. Get ready for an amazing night!
Prom tickets are on sale at the WHS Bookkeeping Office for $35. That ticket to prom also gets you into the post prom. When you make the purchase, your name will go on a list, and at prom you will receive a wristband to get into the dance and post prom.
Everything at prom is then free, including valet parking, coat check, and refreshments. Everything at Post Prom is free as well, including a huge buffet of food, casino games, and a pool, ping-pong, and bags tournament–all with prize money. In purchasing a ticket your name goes in for a drawing for loads of door prizes, including a Trek bike, Apple watch, dorm fridge, cash–and much, much more–but you MUST be present at Post Prom to win!
Prom Message from WHS Associate Principals
Since prom is right around the corner, we want to make sure that students who are eligible to go to Prom can do so. Students must have served any outstanding detentions by Thursday, May 1st. Additionally, students who are considered habitually truant (10 or more dates of unexcused absences/truancies) will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to prom. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Pennington (A-L) ext. 6805 or Mrs. Good (M-Z) ext. 6804.
