Ahoy Families!
October 9, 2026
To lead ALL students to college, career, and civic readiness.
Hi Pirate Family! 🏴☠️
It has been a BUSY week! We are so lucky to work with and teach our amazing little Pirates! 🏴☠️ Not only has there been lots of learning taking place, but we’ve also celebrated Spirit Week, learned important lessons during Fire Safety Week, and had a special visit from our Varsity Football players to send us off into a fantastic weekend!
You’ll find some pictures below capturing the fun and excitement! To avoid overwhelming you with too many pictures at once, we’ll save highlights from a few of this week’s events for our next Family Newsletter. There’s always something exciting happening at CLES! ❤️🏴☠️
Parent-Teacher Conference ~
Friendly reminder ~ our first Parent-Teacher Conference will be held on October 15th, and your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon with scheduling information. Please note that students will be released one hour early ~ 2:30 p.m.~ on this day.

LifeWise Update ~
LifeWise programming has begun for participating students at CLES. Families with questions regarding enrollment, unenrollment, or participation in the LifeWise program should contact Kanda Benner, LifeWise Program Director, at kandabenner@lifewise.org.
Please note that the CLES Office is unable to assist families with enrollment or unenrollment in the LifeWise program. All questions or requests related to participation should be directed to LifeWise.

Howdy Families!
What a fun time we are entering into, quite quickly I might add!
Salty SeaDogs (4th grade) created a project for our CITIZENSHIP conversation. Check it out in the 4th grade hallway when you come for Parent/Teacher conferences. The other grades will create projects throughout the year as we progress through our Pirate Character words-of-the-month (WOM).
This month we are discussing COMMUNICATION, and how it relates to helping our students keep themselves safe by being able to talk to trusted adults. Ask them who their 'safe adults' are.
Here are 2 links for families to look at to enhance their COMMUNICATION at home:
To continue the tradition started last S'Mores, here are two month-long observations for October:
* Breast Cancer Awareness Month raises education and funding for research and support
* National Pizza Month celebrates America's favorite baked pie slice
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have needs, questions, or concerns.

2026-2027 CLLSD Household Income Form
Help Our District and Families - Complete the 2026–2027 Household Income Information Survey
Parents and guardians are encouraged to complete and return the 2026–2027 Household Income Information Survey. While completing the survey is completely voluntary, the information collected may help our district qualify for important state and local programs that provide additional resources and support for our students and schools.
Completing the survey may also benefit families who could qualify for free or reduced school fees and other assistance.
Your participation matters! Please take a few minutes to complete and return the survey. Every response helps our district better serve our students and families.
Ohio State Testing Schedule ~
I wanted to share the Ohio State Testing (OST) schedule with our 3rd and 4th grade families so you can plan ahead accordingly.
* 3rd Fall ELA ~ Oct. 27-28
* 3rd/4th ELA ~ April 20-21
