Message from Ms. Athanson
Greetings,
Our students are truly amazing!!! We were fortunate to have Mr. Clarke from the district's communication come out to showcase our students during Starts with Hello week. https://youtu.be/ZOdcvzY0fFM
This week we celebrated our 26/27 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. McDowell. She is a 4th grade teacher that is simply the best. Each and every day she is creating lessons that are engaging and innovative. We couldn't be prouder to have her represent our school.
We are looking for volunteers to help with both our Fall Bookfair and our Grandparents lunch week. If you are able and interested, please sign up on the links below. You will receive meeting credit for volunteering.

Monday we have a home volleyball game. Our students have had an outstanding season so far so come and cheer them on! Games start at 4:45pm and you must purchase a ticket. You can find the link to tickets on our school website. I encourage purchasing in advance, but we will have a QR code available at the door.
This upcoming week is Fire Prevention week. We are fortunate that our local fire department is coming out this week to teach our K-2nd grade students all about the importance of fire safety.
Our 8th grade students learned about the various HS programs available. Mrs. Vermillion and Mrs. Burggraf met with all of our students on Friday. Ask your students about what they learned. A reminder that the district application fairs are coming soon (10/24 - PPHS & 10/28 - Gibbs).
Huge thank you to our families that participated in the PTSA membership drive. Mrs. Simon and Mrs. Guzzetta's 1st period classes were the winners of the Chick-Fil-A breakfast. Remember there is still time to join.
Parents, we are in need of gently used clothes that would meet our dress code requirements. These donations would help our clothing closet for when students spill something on them or get dress coded. We are in greatest need on the middle school side. We appreciate any donations being dropped off in our office.
Middle school sports seasons are very fast this year. We are getting ready for basketball season to start. All paperwork is due by October 9th. We have a new process, and students will turn in their paperwork in the middle school cafeteria during the morning instead of the front office. Girls tryouts will be 10/13 @ 2:20 & Boys tryouts will be on 10/15 @ 2:20. Pick up is at 3:15.
Parents, as previously shared there is road construction on Duhme Road that will impact the sidewalks and possibly traffic. Please see the attachment below for more information.
I know the holidays seem far away, but we are already planning. If your family may need assistance, please reach out to Mrs. Motte or Mrs. Malchodi. Below is a flyer with specific information.
During the course of a teachers career they are required to obtain different certifications. We currently have two teachers who are considered out of field. Mrs. McGinn is working to finish her ESOL certification and Mrs. Bailey is working to complete her ESE certification. They are both fabulous teachers who will accomplish this requirement by the end of the year.
Please see below for any calendar items that may pertain to your student:
10/5 - Home VB game @ 4:45

Fundamentals of the carline...
Drop off begins at 7:15. Students may not exit their car until this time. We ask everyone to pull up all the way to avoid gaps in the line and have an efficient and timely process.
Elementary school:
- Elementary students will exit their vehicle in the designated areas
- Students will head to the covered court area and remain supervised until class begins
- If they wish to eat breakfast, there will be students to escort them to the elementary cafe
- If you have a student in elementary and middle, you may choose either line to use and they may walk to their designated areas
Middle school:
- Students may exit their vehicle from the covered walkway by the middle school office all the way to the cafeteria.
- Students will enter the cafeteria and remail in their until the bell rings to release to class at 7:38.
- Students that want breakfast will enter the elementary cafe to eat and then head to the middle school cafe till classes begin.
Pick Up for elementary begins at 1:55 and 2:15 for middle. Parents, we ask that you not arrive prior to 30 minutes of dismissal. Arriving too early blocks the flow of traffic for visitors, deliveries and early dismissal for appointments.
Early release for appointments: Parents, we understand that students need to be released early from time to time for appointments. We ask that if you need to pick up your student, please arrive prior to 30 minutes from dismissal (ex: elementary by 1:25, middle by 1:45). This will allow you to utilize the carline without issue.
