New Information

Help Needed- We would love to have help at our crosswalks to keep students safe in the morning 7:20-7:40 and afternoons 3:20-3:35. If you could help one day each week, please let us know. We have over 500 students, so we are hoping to find parents that could give up a few minutes each week. Please email skennedy@sdale.org or tj.houk@sdale.org if you can help.

Help Needed-Dads and Doors is back. Sign-up to help during our busiest time of the day. We need volunteers to open car doors, greet students, and check the school to be sure our building is safe each morning. Arrive at 7:20, check-in at the office, work hard, and be on your way to your day by 8:00AM.

Student Led Conferences are coming soon! Watch for sign-ups to come home this week. The Back-to-School Bash will be at Arvest Ballpark this Wednesday. We would love to see our Yellowjacket families at the event. See info below.

PTA Meeting and Volunteer training

The September PTA meeting! We hope to see you on Tuesday, September 12th at 8:00AM for our first meeting. We will meet in the library. A parent volunteer training will follow our meeting. All volunteers must be trained.

MAP Testing Begins this week!

MAP is an assessment that our Kindergarten through fifth graders take three times a year. This measures proficiency levels and tracks growth in reading and math. Here are the testing dates:

Kindergarten: Week of Sept 18th (teachers will send specific days)

First: Week of Sept. 18th (teachers will send specific days)

Second: Tuesday, Sept 12th and Friday, Sept. 15th

Third: Tuesday, Sept. 12th and Friday Sept. 15th

Fourth: Monday, Sept. 11th and Thursday, Sept. 14th

Fifth: Monday, Sept. 11th and Thursday, Sept. 14th

Picture Day

Picture Day is coming on September 19th! Lifetouch School Photography, known for capturing school pictures from K-12 nationwide, will take our school photos this year. Yearbook Club- 4th/5th graders- Last week to sign up

Are you a 4th or 5th grader that is interested in helping with the Yearbook? Apply to join the yearbook club! No previous experience is required. The students will be taught how to use and care for technology equipment and programs. Parents- please encourage students to answer the questions independently.

Eligibility requirements for Yearbook Club:
- currently in 4th/5th grade at BYE
- able to attend events during or after school to document for the yearbook
- able to be responsible
- can positively represent the school and team (has good character)
- works well with others
- willing to learn

- be able to attend meetings after school on Wednesdays - (2pm to 3:30)

DEADLINE TO APPLY: SEPTEMBER 12 @ 11:59pm. Parents will be notified (through the parent email address provided in the application) of acceptance or not by September 15. A list will be posted at school the following Monday.
