2025 is off with a bang!

It's a new year and everything is moving so fast. We have a few programs coming down the pipe and of course, the 89th Legislature Session started. RootEd's priorities for this legislative session are in the attached flyer. There is much to be done, not a huge amount of hope against vouchers and reliance on a state government where the majority believes privatizing the education system is the best idea. The 89th Session of the Texas Legislature convened on Tuesday, January 14. SB2 was steamrolled through the Senate and now we wait on the House. Like we said, things are rolling fast.

RootEd is still hard at work marketing our neighborhood schools. Our Reps are engaging and storytelling. Our new Facebook group, the Neighborhood School Search Site is doing well. We recently hosted our book club with the authors of The Education Wars which was a hit! We're always looking for RootEd Reps and supporters, send them our way!

Bexarfest Bexarfest

This year has been very inspiring because we have been working with Southwest Legacy High School in SWISD to create a marketing video for BexarFest. BexarFest is a non-profit that puts together high school multi media programs and non-profits to create marketing material. The high school program shoots video, comes up with ideas and creates the product. It's a wonderful opportunity for the high school students to work on on-the-job creations and for the non-profit to get a marketing product they can use. It's a contest between high schools where everyone is welcome to celebrate the students at the Tobin on April 2nd! Let's Go SW Legacy!!!

San Antonio Neighborhood School Search Site hosted by RootEd

RootEd Podcast Discussion Group is a place where we and supporters will drop podcasts and articles about education.

RootEd Legislative Discussion Group is a group where we chat education legislation with other advocates and people who want to learn more.

RootEd is excited to announce that we have created a search group for our neighborhood schools. We created the search group because we noticed that there are a lot of groups speaking for our schools. We want to take back the narrative to show people who are shopping for schools that our schools have amazing stories. We want parents to CHOOSE their neighborhood schools and this Facebook group will give them what they are looking for in our schools. You can search our site for stories or you can ask about a school which RootEd reps can respond or we'll seek information from principals.
