Bulldog Bulletin
Week of April 14th
You Belong Here
Students in grades three, four, and five took their ELA MCAS this week and used all of the strategies shared in the meeting—way to go!
Kindergarten enjoyed a presentation from Wingmasters this week, which was sponsored by the PTO and funded by your Fun Run contributions!
Fun Run prize PJ/Stuffy day on Wednesday, April 16th.
Next week, we have Around the World on Thursday night! I’m so excited to see all of the booths. It’s always such a joy to learn more about our families and have the opportunity to try foods from the many cultures that make up our Sanborn community.
On Friday, Warrior Way will be joining us, along with our very exciting STEAM Challenge! These challenges were a Sanborn favorite before COVID, and we are thrilled to bring them back. Students will participate in grade-level egg drop challenges, culminating in a school-wide egg drop finale. I can't wait to see the creativity our students bring to the challenge!
If you would like to help with the STEAM project you can donate some supplies for the project paper, string, cotton balls, bubble wrap, elastics, paper towel rolls…and anything else you want to contribute! If you have any of these items around the house or are able to purchase and donate, please drop them in the bins in the school vestibule. We will need supplies by before next Wednesday, so the 5th Grade Student Council can sort them.
Mood Meter Update
We continue to explore the Mood Meter at Sanborn School. We are returning to words in the Blue Quadrant, which represents low energy and low pleasantness. You can practice these words at home together!

April’s Theme of the Month: Fairness and Following Rules
During morning announcements this week, we posed fairness scenarios. Students did a great job discussing ways to fairly solve a problem.
At home, you can support your child’s growth in these skills by reading some books. Here are some examples:
📚 Read Books About Fairness Together
Books can help bring abstract concepts to life. Try:
-
“It’s Not Fair!” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
-
“The Fairness Fix” by Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart
-
“That’s Not Fair!” by Carmen Tafolla
Ask reflection questions afterward.
We are already thinking about next year!
The Sanborn administrative team will soon begin placing students for the 2025-2026 school year. Student placement is a thoughtful process that incorporates input from your child's current teacher, support staff, and administration to ensure balanced and compatible classrooms. We carefully consider many factors, including all available student data, to create the best possible learning environments.
Our placement process is designed to support both academic success and social-emotional well-being.
Please note: We do not accept parental requests for specific classroom assignments or teachers.
However, we value your insights and welcome any information that you feel is important for us to know, such as your child's learning style, academic needs, or compatibility with peers. Your input will be carefully considered as we make placement decisions.
To share your thoughts, please email placementsanborn@gmail.com no later than Wednesday, April 30th.
