Notes from the North Park Hive

We are so excited to welcome nearly 200 additional students (and that number will increase all school year) to NPES this week. The first day of 5-day and 2-day preschool is THURSDAY and the first day of 3-day preschool is FRIDAY. Please note that MORNING bus times may change with preschool starting. Routes will likely be a little delayed the first few days as they get used to loading the bus and being seated. It just takes time. The afternoon routes should not change, as preschool dismisses at 1:00. Our drivers complete those routes and return to NPES for the kindergarten dismissal.

Color Days begin this week at NPES. This is a fun way to review colors with our students - they love these days!

Preschool families - please see the info later in the newsletter regarding what to expect the first day AND our transportation/drop-off procedures. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT TAKE PRESCHOOLERS IN THE CAR RIDER LINE. They are walked to the front door due to preschool being "hand-to-hand." If you have a kindergarten student AND a preschooler on the same day, you may walk both in together.

We are excited to have launched our "Buzzy's Fun Run" fundraiser for 2025-2026. This is our biggest yearly fundraiser. We will use the funds in the following ways:

• field trips (we hope to take a whole school field trip to a wonderful outdoor playground area)
• equipment for clubs
• prizes for PBIS rewards
• prizes for the Tiny Trojan store
• special school-day activities for students.

The funds raised are ONLY used for students (both preschool and kindergarten).

Don't forget to check out our spirit store. It closes Thursday and that is the only spirit wear sale we will have this year.

We need your help! We don't do many fundraisers at NPES, but we do have a FUN RUN we do each year to raise money for student field trips, materials and activities. It's a HUGE fundraiser for us and helps us make school special for ALL our students. Last year we raised $10,000 and added to our playground! We’re just a few days away from the start of our that fundraiser - North Park Buzzy's Fun Run - where we will have fun and build community while we work to reach our fundraising goal. This is for kindergarten AND preschool families.

WE ARE ALMOST HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL!!!! Can you help us cross the $5,000 mark today? Kids earn prizes just for signing up, sharing and then more prizes can be earned for family/friends donating. It's easy AND it benefits our kiddos!

We are very excited to welcome your preschoolers this week. Please read the info below carefully regarding the FIRST DAYS. We also want to remind you that we are having a preschool parent/family member meeting on TUESDAY at either 8:00 AM or 2:30 PM. These meetings are important and allow us to share very important information that will help your child (and you!) have a more successful and positive experience.

Please note that our lunch menu will sometimes differ from what is listed due to availability of items and delivery dates to our school sometimes being different. All students may eat breakfast and lunch for FREE.

We have a special painted tree in our cafeteria called our "Reading Tree." We add paper leaves to this tree when students read a book at home with family! We get excited to see how many leaves are added to the tree each month. Additionally, students earn a special sticker (like the kind at the doctor's office) each month. They LOVE collecting these seasonal stickers and adding their leaves to the tree. Paper copies of the leaves will go home tomorrow. You can also print them using the file below.

All students will have access to a free breakfast and a free lunch again this school year. However, each family is still required to complete a Household Income Form to maintain accurate data as a requirement for state and federal funding. If this information is not collected accurately, Family Resource Centers, Youth Service Centers and instructional resources are in jeopardy of losing essential funding.

Please fill out even if your family does not qualify. It does not take long at all.

The form is available by CLICKING HERE. Free lunches are provided through a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Its continuation is dependent on the number of school meals served. HCS encourages all students to participate in school lunch and school breakfast as much as possible!
