Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
As we wind down this end of the year, please know that we will continue academic learning until the final day of the school year. Student attendance is vitally important, so please notify the main office to any absences and have your student make sure they make up any missing work due to the absence.
We hope that you have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. Reminder that there is no school on Monday, May 25th.
Thank you,
Dr. Emily Loerakker

8th Grade Graduation Date and Important Information:
It is time to begin planning for the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony. The following is information regarding the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony.
- Wednesday, June 3, is the last day of school for 8th graders. 8th graders will practice for the graduation ceremony on June 3 in the morning by traveling to the College of Lake County.
- The 8th-grade Graduation/Promotion Ceremony is on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Lake County Physical Education Center (8th graders report to CLC Building G at 6:00 p.m., and doors open to Building F for the ceremony to friends and family at 6:10 p.m.).
- Please note that we will travel to CLC by Fremont buses on Tuesday, June 3, to practice graduation. If you do not give permission for your student to attend practice, please email eloerakker@fsd79.org.
- CLC Physical Education Center: 19351 W Washington Ave, Grayslake, IL 60030, Building F
- Each student was mailed 6 tickets for entrance to the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony.
- There are no additional tickets available to families.
- In the event of a divorce or separation, each parent/guardian was mailed 3 tickets.
- The Graduates do not need a ticket.
Families and friends have very well attended our Graduation/Promotion Ceremonies. We are fortunate to have such a supportive community. We provide entrance tickets to help maintain the best environment for all participants. Each student receives 6 tickets for entrance to the promotion ceremony. To arrange for special seating needs, please contact Linda Flaherty at 847-566-9384, ext.1296, or via email at lflaherty@fsd79.org. The deadline for special seating is Friday, May 15, 2026.
For the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony, all students will be wearing gowns. Please note that it is important for students to wear dress clothes for the Graduation/Promotion Ceremony. Students must follow the district dress code.
When a student enters public school, a file is made that holds items such as report cards and standardized test results. This file transfers to any school the student attends. Per school code, Fremont retains copies of the file for a certain period of time. Copies of your childβs permanent file will be destroyed in 2086.
8th Grade Graduation Dance: The 8th-grade dance will be on Wednesday, May 27, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Fremont Middle School in the large gym and cafeteria.
Only Fremont Middle School 8th-grade students are allowed to attend the dance, and they must follow the dress code.
- There is no cost to the students! All food is free of charge.
- Drop-off and pick-up for the dance will be at the side entrance of the middle school's large gym.
- Enter the middle school at the south entrance (next to the district office) and pull around to the side of the building.
- There will be two rows of cars, and the cars will merge into one row. At the merge, cars will turn right and enter the parking lot, and drop off students at the side door by the large gym.
- Exit using the north exit by the stoplight. To assist with traffic flow and safety for the evening, this will be a right-turn-only exit onto Fremont Center Road heading North.
- Please be patient with the drop-off and pick-up of the students to ensure safety.
Please note that the College of Lake County is undergoing construction. The map below details road and parking lot closures. Again, the graduation ceremony takes place in Building F.

Multilingual Department Update
The preliminary ACCESS scores are in! We proudly announce that 37 students will be reclassified as students who formally received multilingual services. To be reclassified, students must earn a 4.8 or higher on the annual ACCESS test conducted in January. There are 4 students at the elementary school and 33 at the intermediate school who scored a 4.8 or higher. Congratulations to our students and staff for all their hard work!
Summer Online Learning Access
This Summer Online Learning Access document highlights the programs that students have access to over the summer, should you wish to access them for independent summer learning. These are the same online, personalized, self-paced, student-directed programs FSD79 uses during the school year. Prior to summer break, your childβs current classroom teacher(s) will provide reminders regarding the necessary login information needed to access these tools.
