Honor Differences & Care for Others”

HOPPING INTO SPRING HOPPING INTO SPRING

Kindergartners created jumping bunnies to celebrate spring.

They were excited to see how far their own bunnies could move.

We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

As you are aware, Gold Rush has the first Young Rotarians Club in the world! Each year the Young Rotarians Club completes local and international service projects. Prior projects include decorating bags for a meal delivery service for the elderly, creating health care bags for individuals in Africa and quilting sleep bags for children in need.

This year GRE's Young Rotarians decided to celebrate individuals in our school community. Students focused on five groups of individuals that directly impacted our entire school, namely our school resource officer, the lunch and recess aides, our cafeteria staff and the PTO. Students created kindness videos that highlight the character traits that each group embodies. These videos were modeled off of Steve Hartman's Kindness 101 video highlighting service. Click here to view the video.

The Young Rotarians Club is sharing their videos with students and staff. They also wanted to share them with our parent community. Their first video honoring Officer Herrera is included above. We hope that you will watch and see how he models bravery each day.

We could not be more proud of our students for recognizing others and spreading kindness!

CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS

We know that creating a positive, collaborative learning environment is essential to all students’ success. Creating balanced classes that meet the needs of all students is a difficult endeavor. This process involves hours of thoughtful dialogue between classroom teachers, administrators and other staff members. The school takes this responsibility seriously and takes each child into consideration.

We value parent input and welcome any insight you wish to share about your child’s strengths, needs and learning style. We will take into consideration all pertinent information that you share with the principal on or before Friday, April 12. While we welcome your input, we cannot honor specific teacher requests. Please share your thoughts on this google doc. Please make sure you communicate your thoughts via the google doc so we can track your input and refer back to it throughout the process.

STATE TEST SCHEDULE FOR GRADES 3-5 STATE TEST SCHEDULE FOR GRADES 3-5

All students in grades 3-5 are required by the state of Colorado to take an assessment called the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). This assessment measures students' achievement and growth in the areas of English Language Arts and Math. Fifth grade students are also assessed in the area of Science. Click here for additional information.

Please see our testing schedule above for specific assessment days and times. We ask that you do not schedule outside appointments during the identified testing window.

Thank you for your cooperation.

CHECK SPAM FOR STAFF EMAILS CHECK SPAM FOR STAFF EMAILS

It has come to our attention that some emails intended for our parent community have, at times, been going directly into spam folders. This is an issue related to increased security of many email service providers, but at this time appears to be more frequently impacting those with @Gmail.com accounts.

Regardless of the type of email account you have, please check your spam folder for potential teacher communications. If you find an email that should have been delivered to your inbox, please open the email in "spam" and click "Report Not Spam". Please note that if you do find an email that should be delivered to your inbox, you may want to mark all emails that came from that sender so your account will have a better chance of recognizing the teacher's email address in the future.

Thank you for your patience and continued diligence in this matter.
