SCHOOL UNIFORM SCHOOL UNIFORM

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students through a strong partnership between home and school, we expect all students to attend school wearing the correct school uniform, as outlined in our Uniform Guidelines. At the time of enrolment, parents and carers agree to support the school’s policies and procedures, including our uniform requirements.

To assist our classroom teachers in following up on uniform concerns, teachers will be using a reminder email through SEQTA when a student is repeatedly wearing items that do not align with our uniform expectations. This reminder will only be sent after the teacher has spoken with the student and will not be used where a parent or carer has provided a reasonable explanation for why their child is unable to wear the correct uniform. In these instances, we will work collaboratively with families to ensure students are wearing the correct uniform as soon as practicable.

Thank you for your support in helping our students take pride in their appearance and meet the expectations of our school community.

ATTENDANCE ATTENDANCE

We recently sent communication to parents of students whose attendance has fallen below 90% this term. While we recognise that some absences may be due to valid reasons that have already been communicated to the school, this correspondence forms part of our standard attendance follow‑up procedures and ensures we are consistently monitoring and supporting student attendance.

SPORT CARNIVALS SPORT CARNIVALS

We look forward to our upcoming Sport Carnivals, taking place on Friday 4 September and Friday 11 September. I thank Mr Sam Harris (Physical Education Teacher) for his planning and organisation of these events. Please refer to the detailed information to be provided by Mr Harris via Seesaw.

I also extend my thanks to our P&F Committee for supporting the Faction Carnival (Friday 11 September) by organising a bake sale and coffee van. I encourage families to take advantage of these offerings while enjoying the day and cheering on our students.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

We keep our Confirmation candidates in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which will be celebrated on Sunday 13 September at St Brigid’s Church. Students and parents recently participated in a preparation workshop, and prior to the celebration, our candidates will be visited by Fr Vincent Glynn, Vicar General and Episcopal Vicar for Education, who will also preside over the Confirmation Mass. I thank Mrs Mollie Anderton and Miss Natasha de Gois (Year Six Teachers) for preparing our students, as well as Ms Dee Campbell (Assistant Principal) for leadership.

LEARNING JOURNEY LEARNING JOURNEY

We look forward to our Learning Journey, taking place Wednesday 16 September 2:00 – 4:00pm. This provides a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their learning from the term with parents and caregivers. Parents are welcome to sign their child/ren out of school early, if concluding their Learning Journey experience prior to 3:00pm.

PRE-KINDY 2027 AND KINDERGARTEN 2028 PRE-KINDY 2027 AND KINDERGARTEN 2028

We are now accepting enrolment applications for Pre-Kindy 2027 (Three-Year-Old Kindy) and Kindergarten 2028. Interviews for families seeking a place in Pre-Kindy next year, and Kindergarten the following year are currently taking place.

In accordance with Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) policy, enrolment in Pre-Kindy does not automatically guarantee a place in Kindergarten. Families who wish their child to continue into Kindergarten and beyond from 2028 are therefore required to submit both the Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten–Year Six enrolment applications.

Families will find our updated enrolment application forms on our school website. Please direct any enrolment enquiries to enrolments@stbrigidsms.wa.edu.au, or contact Mrs Victoria Kellaway (Administration Officer, Monday – Wednesday).

Our Pre-Kindy places for 2027 are filling fast and I encourage you to submit an enrolment application form as soon as possible if you are interested in joining Pre-Kindy next year. Please note, our Pre-Kindy day next year will be Thursday. Kindergarten will remain Monday – Wednesday.

PLANNING FOR 2027 PLANNING FOR 2027

As we begin planning for the 2027 school year, we ask families to please notify the school by the end of Term Three if their child will not be returning to St Brigid’s Primary School next year.

Accurate enrolment information plays an important role in our planning for class structures, staffing, specialist programs and resource allocation. Receiving this information early allows us to make informed decisions that best support our students and school community, while also assisting families whose children will be transitioning to a new school.

Sacrament of Confirmation Sacrament of Confirmation

Sunday 13th September 2026 (11am)

Thank you to all the Confirmands and their parents/caregivers for your participation on the workshop on Tuesday evening. It was an excellent session with Mario Borg.

Coming up in Week 9 the Confirmands will meet with the Vicar General Father Vincent Glynn, and take part in Reconciliation and Rehearsal for the sacrament. They will also experience a retreat designed to help them grow in understanding in how the Holy Spirit guides them to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Receiving the Holy Spirit in Confirmation is not simply a ceremony. It strengthens you to witness to Christ and serve others.

The Confirmands have been learning about a saint whose life inspires them and whose virtues they would like to imitate.

We look forward to witnessing these incredible children receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, but in the meantime, we keep them, their families and their teachers in our prayers.

EA Appreciation Day EA Appreciation Day

Education Assistants work alongside classroom teachers to make sure every child has the tools they need to succeed. They provide extra hands, eyes, and heart in the school.

EAs are often the unsung heroes of the school. They get to know students’ unique personalities, celebrate their small victories, and provide a steady, comforting presence throughout the school day. Without them, our classrooms simply could not thrive.

Education Assistant (EA) Appreciation Day is a special day dedicated to celebrating the hardworking staff members who support students, teachers, and classrooms every day.

These professionals are sometimes called paraprofessionals, teacher aides, or learning support assistants, and they play a vital role in our school community.

On Monday 31st August, we will recognise and celebrate the amazing EAs across our school and you can to!

Simple Ways Your Family Can Say "Thank You"

Heartfelt gestures mean the most to our school staff.

  • Write a note. Have your child draw a picture or write a short letter saying what they love about their EA.
  • Say it in person. Encourage your child to give a big "thank you" when they see their EA at drop-off or pick-up.

R U OK Day? R U OK Day?

R U OK? Day is held annually on the second Thursday of September. For families in a school community, it provides a vital opportunity to teach children how to build meaningful connections, recognize when a friend is struggling, and know when to ask a trusted adult for help.

How Families Can Participate:

  • Start conversations at home: Use everyday moments to ask your children how they are feeling and model open communication.
  • Review the four steps: Learn the R U OK? conversational steps—Ask, Listen, Encourage action, and Check in.
  • Support school initiatives: Participate in school-led community events like morning teas, or encourage wearing yellow to spark dialogue.

Where to Find Support:

  • Lifeline: Call 13 11 14 for 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.
  • Kids Helpline: Call 1800 55 1800 for free, confidential phone and online counselling for ages 5 to 25.
  • Headspace: Call 1800 650 890 for youth mental health and wellbeing support.
  • School Well-being Team: Reach out directly to your school.

Waste Free Wednesday Waste Free Wednesday

At St Brigid’s, we are excited to begin our Waste Free Wednesdays as part of our commitment to caring for the environment and “loving our Earth.”

Each Wednesday, we encourage all students and staff to bring a waste-free lunchbox and avoid any plastic wrapping. Together, we can make a big difference… one small change at a time!

✅ Ideas for a waste-free lunch:

• Pack snacks and lunches in reusable containers

🚫 What to avoid:

• Plastic bags, cling wrap, or foil

• Disposable bottles and juice boxes

• Snacks packaged in plastic

Let’s work together to reduce waste and build sustainable habits for our children.

♻️ Saving the planet one Wednesday at a time!

Thank you for your support!
