SHS Basketball hires Greg Scott

Springdale Public Schools is excited to introduce Greg Scott as the new men's basketball coach at Springdale High School.

"I am extremely excited for this opportunity. Springdale High School has a great basketball tradition," Scott said. "I am eager to meet the players, their families, and the faculty and staff. Thank you to Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland, Associate Superintendent Shannon Tisher, Executive Athletic Director Keith Fimple, and Principal Jason Jones for this opportunity. I am proud to lead the Bulldogs and continue the tradition of excellence."

Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland commented, "I want to congratulate Mr. Jason Jones, Coach Keith Fimple, and Coach Eric Burnett on a successful search for the new men’s basketball coach at SHS. Coach Greg Scott is an extremely successful, veteran head basketball coach who has helped produce great men and athletes in his career, two of whom are playing in the NBA Finals at this time. We look forward to the incredible contributions Coach Scott will make to the Springdale Men’s Basketball Program and the Bulldog Family over time."

Coach Scott transitions from Central Junior High after one year as the head boys' basketball coach. He has been coaching for 22 years, nine of which as a high school head coach. He boasts two state championships as an assistant coach for Fort Smith Northside and has a total record of 133 wins and 106 losses as a high school basketball coach.

Executive Athletic Director Keith Fimple said, "Springdale High School's rich basketball legacy and tradition of excellence are deeply ingrained in our community, and we are incredibly excited to welcome our new head coach to build upon that strong foundation."

Coach Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from Wichita State and a Master of Education from Grand Canyon University.

"We are excited that Coach Scott will be joining the Bulldog family," said Springdale High School Principal Jason Jones. "Coach Scott brings years of coaching experience, a strong commitment to student-athlete development, and a passion for excellence both on and off the court."

Coach Scott is married to Sadie Scott, and they have four children: Davin Chitwood (27), Mika Scott (21), Patrick Mills (20), and Garrett Scott (18). In his personal time, Coach Scott enjoys pickup basketball, pickleball, tennis, and working out.
