From the Principal From the Principal

Hello Page Families

How are we already in May? This time of year always sneaks up on us.

May is one of the busiest months we have, but also one of the best. Our calendar is full with field trips, performances, the Book Fair, field day, and so many end-of-year activities. There is a lot happening, and it’s the kind of busy that brings a lot of joy to our building.

This is also the time when you really start to see how much students have grown. They are more confident, more independent, and proud of what they can do. It’s a great time to pause and notice that growth.

We know this time of year can feel like a lot for families, too, so thank you for helping your child show up each day ready to be part of it all. These last few weeks matter, and we are excited to finish the year strong together.

With gratitude,

Teresa Collins

📚 Book Fair Is Coming to Page! 📚

We’re excited to share that our Book Fair is coming to Page from May 4–8! This is always such a fun and engaging event for our students and a great way to build excitement around reading.

Students will have the opportunity to browse and purchase books during their scheduled library time. It’s always a highlight to see them discover new titles and share their excitement with one another.

Families are also invited to shop after school. This is a great opportunity to pick out books together while supporting our school. You’ll find popular series, favorite characters, and plenty of new titles students will be excited about.

Every purchase helps support our school, and we truly appreciate it.

Click the link below for more information and to set up an eWallet so your student can shop cashless.https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/pageelementaryschool1

Jog a thon

Our Jog-a-Thon is just around the corner on May 21, and we are so excited! Shirts have been ordered. Thank you, PTO, for helping make this event so special for our students. This is always one of the most fun and memorable days of the year, and we cannot wait to see our Panthers out there running, cheering, and showing their school spirit.

We would love to have volunteers join us to help make the day a success. If you are interested, please fill out this Google Form and make sure you are registered in our Raptor system ahead of time so you are ready for event day.

If volunteering is not your thing, we still welcome you to come cheer on your child. Families can watch from the designated visitor viewing area. For everyone’s safety, all visitors must check in through our system by presenting a driver’s license.

With so many families on campus, safety is a top priority. Please plan to arrive early, as check-in can take some time, and we will have only one station available for ID scanning. We appreciate your patience and support in helping us keep this a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

We cannot wait to see you there! 🎉

Here is the schedule for the day:

9:30–9:55 4th Grade
10:00–10:25 Kindergarten
10:30–10:55 2nd Grade
12:55–1:20 3rd Grade
1:30–1:55 1st Grade
2:00–2:25 5th Grade

Adventure is out there, and this week we are setting off on a very special journey to Paradise Falls as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.

Just like in Disney’s Up, where every great adventure begins with heart, courage, and a sense of wonder, our teachers are the ones who truly lift our students up each and every day. They show up with dedication, care, and a commitment to helping every child grow.

We are so grateful for the ways our teachers inspire students to work hard, dream big, and reach new heights. If you have a moment this week, we encourage you to share a kind note or message of appreciation to help celebrate the incredible educators who make our school such a special place.

Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing teachers.

Clothing Donations Needed

We are running low on extra clothes in our clothing closet. As you are cleaning out winter items and getting ready for summer, please consider donating gently used clothing.

We especially need sizes 5–8 for both boys and girls. These items help support students who may have an accident, get dirty, or need a change of clothes during the school day.

If you are able to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Having these items on hand allows us to quickly support students and help them get back to learning comfortably.

Arrival Reminder

We have noticed an increase in students being dropped off before 8:00 a.m. over the past few weeks. For student safety, school supervision does not begin until 8:00 a.m., when doors open for breakfast.

Students should not be dropped off before 8:00 a.m. If you arrive early, an adult must remain with your child outside the school until the doors open. There is no staff supervision before 8:00 a.m.

Dropping students off early poses a safety concern, and we want to ensure all students are safe each morning. Thank you for your help and partnership in following this expectation.

Every Day Counts

May is here, and it is one of the most exciting times of the year at Page! We have so many fun events, activities, and celebrations happening across our school. From special classroom projects to schoolwide events, there is so much for students to be a part of, and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

This is a time when students can really enjoy their school community, celebrate their learning, and make lasting memories with their classmates. Being at school each day allows students to fully participate in these experiences, stay connected with their peers, and feel a strong sense of belonging. Many of our May activities build on what students are doing in class, so being present helps them feel confident and included in all that is happening.

Even a day or two away can mean missing out on something special, whether it is a class activity, a performance, or time with friends. We want every student to be part of these moments.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child be here, on time, and ready to enjoy all the fun and learning ahead. It truly makes a difference.

News from our Health Room

Please notify the Health Aide or Front Office if your student will be using any form of durable medical equipment during the school day. Some examples include crutches, casts/braces, splints, a wheelchair, a walker, a cane, or even a heart monitor. This helps ensure the safety of your student as well as their classmates. A note from the doctor restricting activity/participation is also very helpful. Don't hesitate to reach out if you are unsure of protocol.

Sunshine is finally here, and students are spending extra time outdoors. Sunscreen should be checked into the health room if needed! That extra protection during recesses can really help, especially for those with sensitive skin.

School Reminders School Reminders

The Impact of Early Pick-Ups on Classroom Learning

At our school, every minute of instruction counts. When students are picked up before the school day ends, it may seem like a small interruption-but those missed minutes truly add up. Teachers carefully plan learning activities right up until dismissal, and stepping out early can cause students to miss important instruction, collaboration, and closure of their learning for the day.

Additionally, early departures can disrupt the entire classroom. When a student gathers belongings and leaves during a lesson, it can break the focus of both the child and their peers. Over time, frequent early pick-ups can leave students with learning gaps and make it harder for them to stay on track academically.

We understand that life happens, appointments, and family needs are sometimes unavoidable. When such occasions arise, we ask families to communicate with the school in advance whenever possible. By planning early dismissals carefully and limiting them to necessary situations, we can work together to support consistent learning and help all students stay fully engaged through the final bell.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring that every student receives the full benefit of their school day!

Birthday Celebrations at School

At Page, we love celebrating our students! While we recognize birthdays in special ways, we do not celebrate with food at school. We kindly ask that families do not send desserts or other treats to share with the class.

This helps us keep all students safe, especially those with food allergies, and ensures fairness and consistency for everyone. Thank you for helping us create a safe, inclusive environment and for keeping our school day focused on learning.

Lost and Found

Please make sure all of your child's clothing and personal items are clearly labeled with their name. This helps us return lost items quickly and keeps belonging organized. Thank you for helping us keep track of everyone's belongings!

Bell Schedule

8:00-8:25 Breakfast in the cafeteria

8:25 Classroom doors open

8:35 Tardy bell rings

2:50 School end for the day

12:30 Early release days

Dress for Success

Students should wear shoes and clothes that are comfortable running and playing in. Students need appropriate shoes for recess and PE, so please save flip flops and high heels for home. Clothing should be free from any images of drugs, alcohol, or weapons. We have recess outside rain or shine, so please make sure your student is dressed for the weather.

Electronic Devices Reminder

We are seeing a few students wearing smart watches to school. As a reminder, beginning in September 2025, Springfield Public Schools requires that all student electronic devices be off and away from the bell to bell. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, headphones or earbuds, tablets, and any other internet-connected devices. Thank you for helping us maintain a focused learning environment for students.

PTO

We have an amazing and active PTO! We would love to have you join and make Page School even more amazing! Joining the PTO is a great way to connect with other families and provide input on school events.

Communication

It is very important that we have a correct email address for parents/guardians. You will be able to access communication platforms and we can send you important information and updates as we continue through the school year. You can update your email through your parentVUE account.

Our teachers use Seesaw as their primary communication platform. Please look for a link from your student's teacher to sign up for their class communication. If you have any trouble signing up for Seesaw please reach out. It is critical that you receive the communication shared via this app throughout the school year.
