Principal's Weekly Update
Week of March 24-28
Administrator's Message ๐พ
Dear Wildcat Families,
Our attendance challenge is heating up! 6th graders won the second week again with the highest attendance rate, and they got to pour a bucket of ice over Ms. Fukuda! The March Madness Top Two classes are competing for the championship and a money prize! We love the enthusiasm we are seeing from students and their engagement with the challenge. Attendance has been proven to have a big impact on student's academic achievement and growth. Please continue to reinforce the importance of daily attendance -we cannot do it without your support!
With spring in the air, testing season around the corner and the weather warming up, we are seeing an increase in student conflict (usually influenced by social media and gossip) escalating into physical altercations. Our expectation as a school community is that conflict is handled respectfully. We provide counseling support, mediation services and opportunities for students to manage conflict without resulting to violence. We do not condone physical violence or instigating. Parents/guardians, please continue to discuss with your child that conflict is a natural part of life, and healthy ways of addressing concerns. All BGW students are learning about managing conflict in their English classes through Second Step lessons. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your child about the lessons they're being given, and to reinforce these soft skills at home. Thank you for your continued partnership to ensure a safe learning environment for all.
-Ms. Rivera & Ms. Rockwell
Celebrating Our Community's Diversity
The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.
Eid al-Fitr begins the evening of March 29th. Eid al Fitr is one of the most widely celebrated Islamic festivals, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. On this day, Muslims show their gratitude towards Allah for offering them health and endurance to get through the long fasting period. Muslims offer prayer and thank Allah for His blessings and rewards. On Eid ul Fitr, people organize delicious feasts, wear new and vibrant clothes, visit family members and exchange Eid greetings.
