From the Principals Desk

Dear Young Elementary Families,

We’ve had such a great week here at Young Elementary! Dismissal is running smoothly, and I want to thank you all for your patience as everyone learned the routine. Your cooperation has made a big difference in keeping things safe and efficient for our students.

This week, your students began participating in the Agriculture Science Academy with Mrs. Rainey. We are so excited to see the hands-on learning that will take place in this program and the many new skills and experiences your children will gain throughout the year.

Next week, we will begin our NWEA MAP BOY Fluency Testing for first and second grade, and our kindergarten students will participate in the Tx-KEA assessment. Please remember that attendance is very important to your child’s learning, and the school day begins promptly at 7:30 a.m.

We are off to a wonderful start, and I know it’s going to be a great year!

Sincerely,
Andrew Hohman
Principal, Young Elementary

We made it through the first full week of school!! 💪

I got to dive into our Counseling Lessons with 3rd-5th grade this week and it was SO fun seeing the faces of returning students and meeting our new students! I got a chance to refresh our students on what a School Counselor's job looks like and the different ways I can help them at school. I am excited to see the other grade levels next week!

Your student should have received a orange or blue note from me this week explaining my role at Young, the lunch bunch groups I am offering this year, as well as a place to let me now if you need community resource assistance of any kind. Please make sure your student returns this note back to their teacher if you are interested in any of those services.

If you have any questions or think I could be of help to your family at any point-please reach out!
