Winter Weather Is Coming — Time to Update Your FlashAlert Subscription!

FlashAlert is the system that we use to notify you of school closures, delays, and other similar events. The system is routinely pruned of untouched accounts so even if you had previously subscribed, you should verify your subscriptions at https://www.flashalert.net/login.html. Please note that this is not a West Linn-Wilsonville system and we can provide only limited help.

Families should consider getting the free FlashAlert Messenger app from the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore. Announcements will also be displayed on the local TV channels. During an event, we will also post an announcement on district and school website homepages as well as our emergency communications system.

Check Out the Community Bulletin Board

Families wanting information about resources and additional community partners are encouraged to access the district's Community Bulletin Board. The Community Bulletin Board is where community partners share relevant flyers and information about youth sports, camps and outside learning opportunities, enrichment opportunities, fundraisers, and other community-based opportunities. Community members can also post information to the Community Bulletin Board by submitting a PDF.

WLWV Schools Celebrate Native American Heritage Month Throughout November

November is Native American Heritage Month. To honor this important time of year, school libraries across the district showcased books that highlight the tribes, cultures, and histories of Native Americans both locally and across the country. At Athey Creek Middle School, for example, books were displayed in the library that celebrated Jim Thorpe and the Navajo Code Talkers. At Bolton Primary, books like "Children of the First People" highlighted local tribes such as the Grand Ronde Tribe. Thank you to all of our Teacher-Librarians and Teachers for sharing this important history with our students.

Safety Spotlight — Buzzed-In Entryway Systems

This summer and fall, the West Linn-Wilsonville School District implemented buzzed-in entryways for during the school day at each of its schools. This means that all perimeter doors to the school building and classrooms will be locked except for the front doors that lead into a secure, climate-controlled vestibule adjacent the main office doors. Visitors are required to use a door bell to request access into the office.

All volunteers and visitors are required to sign in at the school office before entering the building. We also ask that volunteers and visitors sign out before leaving. This lets staff know who is in the building at any given time. Volunteers and Visitors are also required to wear the ID badge that is provided upon checking in. Visitors and volunteers without an ID badge may be asked by staff to return to the office to get a new one. Visitors or Volunteers participating in after-school activities on campus should follow any protocols provided by the activity organizer. Visitors and Volunteers should access the building through the main entrance unless given alternative directions.
