Weekly Update

Dear Oak Brook Families,

We’re thrilled for this year’s Fall fundraiser: our Obee’s Eagle Dash!

Our fundraising goal is to raise $20,000 toward upgrading the marquee at the front of the school!

It has an easy-to-use fundraising platform, a Character-building program that ties into our Oak Brook core values, and ends with a fitness celebration event for every student!

Families will gather donations through MyBooster.com by simply sharing your student’s page with friends and family. Every share makes a difference!

Students will also enjoy 'Global Kitchen Club,' an exciting character-building adventure where they'll learn important values through recipes and activities popular around the world.

Storybook Pumpkin Patch
Your family is invited to help us grow a “Storybook Pumpkin Patch” in our library. This involves reading a favorite storybook and then decorating an artificial pumpkin to look like one of the characters. Check out this link to see how your family can participate.

Bus Passes

We are not to give out bus passes until the end of October at the soonest. This means students may not get on another bus besides their normal bus, even with parent permission. Thank you for understanding.

Social Emotional Learning Survey

To better understand how our students are feeling about school, we'll be giving social-emotional learning (SEL) surveys this fall and spring to students in grades 3-5, as well as to staff regarding their students at all grade levels.

These quick 15-minute surveys ask students about important topics like:

How safe they feel at school
Their sense of belonging in our school community
Their relationships with classmates and teachers
Their overall school experience

When: Sept. 28 - Oct. 16

What it helps us do: Identify ways to make Oak Brook an even better place for learning and growing

Playground Update

Our playgrounds will be complete with inspections around the middle of November. THE BACK FIELD IS CLOSED FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS SO WE CAN GET SOME GRASS TO GROW! They've hydroseeded it and and are watering it daily. If you live close to OB and like to use the field on nights or weekends, please refrain for the next few weeks. Thank you!

FOCUS ON CHARACTER

Next week, we will focus on Responsibility: taking action and understanding how our choices affect others, ourselves and the world. We remind our Oak Brook students that being responsible means stepping up, doing your part, and making smart choices. We will explore how the things we say and do can make a big difference for ourselves, our friends, and the world around us.
