Loveland City Schools Newsletter

Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
This year, we are continuing to listen to our community with the launch of our 2026 “Community Survey.” This quick online survey gives anyone in our community an opportunity to tell us how we are doing in reaching the goals of our #beLOVEland Strategic Vision: Student Success, Collaborative Culture, Community Engagement, and Fiscal Responsibility.
Please follow this link to our 2026 Community Survey. Share it with your friends and neighbors who may not receive this newsletter so that we can hear from as many people as possible. The survey should only take a few moments to complete. It includes open-ended questions so you can share your ideas, give us a pat on the back, or tell us how we can improve.
The survey, Town Halls, and our Community Advisory Team are all important parts of our work to stay connected to our community. Thank you to everyone who takes part.
As I look back at 2025, I want to thank our community for an outstanding year. Here are a few of the highlights:
Loveland City School District was named one of Cincinnati’s Top Workplaces and singled out for our amazing culture.
We were named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” for the first time.
Loveland City Schools earned an “A Grade” in the Niche.com rankings, and an “A+ Grade” for our teaching staff.
We earned 4.5 stars on the Ohio School Report Card.
We’ll continue our hard work in 2026 for a strong finish to the school year. If you have any questions about the Loveland City School District, please email me at mikebroadwater@lovelandschools.org.

Treasurer’s Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
As we step into 2026, I want to share some vital updates regarding our district’s financial health and the ongoing legislative landscape in Columbus. My goal as your Treasurer/CFO is to ensure the Loveland City School District remains a top-tier educational environment while practicing the highest level of fiscal stewardship.
Efficiency remains at the forefront of our operations. I am proud to report that LCSD continues to operate with per-pupil expenditures below the state average, despite being among the top in the state for academic performance.
Tax Budget Hearing: We held our annual Tax Budget Hearing earlier this week on January 6th. This is a key step in our yearly cycle to ensure transparency and public input on how your tax dollars are utilized.
Finance Fridays: If you haven’t already, I encourage you to check out our Finance Friday video series. These short updates are designed to break down complex topics like district revenue, cost-saving measures, and levy structures into digestible segments.
Many pieces of proposed legislation are being discussed and debated that impact public education funding. Some of the specific legislation recently passed that affects school funding is HB186 and HB 335, which I urge you to research.
Our next major financial milestone will be the updated financial forecast coming in February. We remain committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. When our community is engaged, our students win.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an essential part of our #beLOVEland strategic vision. As always, please reach out if you have any questions at espyjo@lovelandschools.org.
Go Tigers!

Board of Education
Our Loveland Board of Education members beginning their new terms last night were Dr. Eric Schwetschenau, Rev. Jonathan Eilert, and new member Katie Schuckman. They join Lynn Mangan and Christina Jeranek who are in the middle of their four-year terms. Congratulations, and thank you to all of our Board Members for serving our school district and community.
Preschool and Kindergarten Registration Time
Now is the time to begin planning for the fall if you are interested in preschool or kindergarten for your child. Preschool applications are being accepted through January 16 for children ages 3-5. You can follow this link to our website to learn more about how to apply for preschool.
The kindergarten registration process opens for families on January 20. If your child will be five years old on or before the first day of school for the 2026-27 school year (August 13, 2026), they can be part of the Loveland Tiger Class of 2039! Visit lovelandschools.org/kinder to learn more.
Grandparents and Great Influences Success!
In December, Loveland City School District held “Grandparents and Great Influences” events across the district. “Grandparents and Great Influences” was created as an opportunity to say “thank you” to the grandparents and other special people who serve as positive role models in our students’ lives.
More than 3,800 people participated this year, spending time in classrooms, sharing stories, and making memories. By opening our doors and welcoming people into our classrooms, we build stronger relationships with our community because they can meet our staff and see firsthand the hard work that happens every day.
Thank you to every grandparent and special someone who visited one of our students, and special thanks to the staff members who put in extra work to make this day a success.

Career Learning at the Skilled Trades Fair
Loveland High School hosted a Skilled Trades Fair last month. Students learned about the carpentry, electrical, and HVAC fields by chatting with local companies. They also learned about other opportunities for hands-on careers through the Great Oaks Career Campuses and Butler Tech. Thank you to our community partners who participated.
Celebrating Internship Providers
During December, Loveland City School District celebrated our first-semester internship providers with a series of social media posts. Dozens of local companies and organizations provide valuable learning opportunities for our students. These internships teach them valuable skills, provide real-world experience, and help them make better career decisions after graduation. Thank you to everyone who participates.
