Have Questions About the SBAC? CAASP?
Do you have questions about the SBAC? CAASPP? We want to hear your questions!
We will be answering the questions submitted using the survey below at our Parent Informational Meetings on Tuesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 5.
Helpful Resources to Help Prepare for Upcoming Assessments
Looking for a resource to help your child prepare for the SBAC? Here are a few:
- Study Island, an online learning program, is an excellent way to build up academic skills while also becoming familiar with the style of questions found on the SBAC. To learn more about Study Island, click here. Vista Oaks has a number of licenses still available for our students' use. Contact your teacher for more information.
- Lumos Learning has created a series of assessments and online workbooks that have been used and recommended by one of our wonderful homeschooling parents. Want to learn about what she is using? Click here to see the Lumos Learning series. (A "thank you" to one of our parents who shared this resource with us!)
- To learn about the types of questions on the computer-based test, you and your child can view the practice test online at the California Department of Education (CDE) Smarter Balanced Practice Test Web page.
Mark Your Calendar - SBAC and CST Testing Schedule
Changes to Original Byron Site Schedule - We have been able to make some adjustments to the original schedule your advisor may have shared with you earlier. (Good news for all of us!)
Concord Area - We have rented several rooms at JFK's College of Law in Pleasant Hill. More information coming soon!
Questions? - Please contact your advisor if you have any questions.
Update on WASC
- Our initial application was submitted in September.
- In December, an extensive description of the school was completed and submitted.
- Now we are ready for the next step! A WASC Visiting Team Chairperson will be visiting our Byron site on Thursday, March 12.
What is one of our goals for a Vista Oaks' student? Becoming a "Valued Members of the Community!"
What does this mean? It means a Vista Oaks student:
- Is prepared for college or a career
- Contributes to the positive culture of the school
- Participates in activities that support and improve their local community.
Thank you to the following students for exemplifying this characteristic! We appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond, making our school a special place to be! Each of these students is involved in a variety of activities, including the Leadership Team, Yearbook, and will begin volunteering with our younger students soon.
- Ryan Guenette
- Madison Brown
- Errin Abasolo
Do you have a student you would like to recommend who is a wonderful example of being a "Valuable Member of the Community?" If so, please send information to Joy Groen, providing information about the student and their contributions to our school or local community. We want to celebrate them!
Reminder: New Area Designated for Drop Off and Pick Up
- Thank you for helping our first week using our new drop off and pick up area go smoothly.
- If you are dropping off or picking up a student, please continue to use the loading zone directly in front of the district office. (See map below.)
- Feeling confused or unsure of where to go? Please look for a Vista Oaks staff member. We will be there to help!
