Meaux Elementary
September Parent Newsletter
๐ No School Monday, September 2nd. Happy Labor Day!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
At Meaux Elementary we believe that when everyone is working toward the same goals, we create the strongest possible learning environment for our students. That's why we set school-wide goals each year.
These goals are important because they:
- Provide focus and direction - They help teachers, students, and families know what we are all working toward together.
- Build consistency - When expectations are the same across classrooms, students understand what success looks like no matter where they are in the school.
- Encourage Teamwork - By sharing common goals, teachers, staff, parents, and students can support one another to achieve the best outcomes.
- Measure progress - Goals give us a way to track growth and celebrate the progress our students make throughout the year.
We invite you to join us in supporting these goals at home as well. By working together - school, students, and families - we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community.

PBIS - 2025-2026
Welcome Back!! During the first week of school, our students rotated around the school to review our Meaux expectations and rules for each area. This rotation will be completed after each major holiday. It is a great way for students to practice what is expected of them throughout the year. The students were commended for their behavior since school started. Thank you to all of our teachers and parents/guardians for supporting our PBIS model!!
Our first PBIS event will be our โFall Kickoffโ on Thursday, September 11. The students will be able to wear their favorite team shirt, jersey or their spirit shirt with uniform bottoms for 2 Pat Cash.
Our first nine weeks event will be celebrated in October with our โFall Festโ. This has been a student favorite, but we will need volunteers to make game booths and run them for the day. I will be posting a sign up on Meaux Elementary Class Dojo soon with directions on how to participate. Right now our tentative date is scheduled for October 10, 2025 in case you need to check your schedule.
In order to attend the โFall Festโ, students can not receive a major infraction for the first nine weeks of school. Please continue to encourage your child/children to follow the expectations at school. Our school is successful because of your support!!
๐ Coming Up!
Attendance Matters
We are 'Leveling Up' our Attendance
Last year Meaux Elementary had an overall 95% attendance rate for the year! We are continuing this goal again this year and leveling up our percentage to 97%! Our students are encouraged to be in attendance every minute of every day. Like last year, students can earn incentives based on their attendance. At the start of the year, students were given their first attendance brag tag. Students put these on their backpacks for safe keeping. At the end of each month, students who have not missed school during the month will be awarded that month's tag to add to their collection. If the student's class has 97% attendance for the month, the class will receive a reward. Let's work together to attain this goal.
Million Word Reader Challenge!
Once again this year Mrs. Etie', Vermilion Parish Supervisor of Curriculum, is challenging all students to become Million Word Readers! In addition to the incentives outlined on the flyer, our school librarian, Mrs. Laura Chapman has some exciting things for our students as they reach reading milestones on their way to a million words. When we reach the deadline, students who make the goal will be treated to a limo or trolley ride and lunch with the principal and librarian. Last year Meaux Elementary had a total of 4 Million Word Readers. The challenge is on!
