February 2024
A letter from our leader Janice
Each one of the kittens in this quilt has its own personality. Together the quilt is quite interesting. My eye goes from one to the other. I can’t decide which one to look at, and which one holds my attention the longest.
February’s meeting may be just like this quilt. You may ask, “Where should I put my attention?” “Who do I need to listen to?” “What do I do first?”
With the help of our leaders, I have put together an agenda for the meeting. I hope it holds together as well as the Kittens in their Quilt.
January’s meeting was a success. Laura’s presentation was well received. She did a great job explaining Spoonflower. Please bring your samples to the February meeting if you tried Spoonflower for the first time. Bev kept everyone on track with her and Gini’s Opportunity Quilt timeline. I missed the demonstration and hope I can have Bev repeat it for our February meeting. Gini also said that Show and Tell pictures should be posted to the Facebook page. Linda Barron graciously cut blocks from her amazing batiks. She said her goal this year is to sew and share her stash. She is definitely off to a good start.
In February, we’ll start at 10:00 by setting up our sewing machines or ‘hand work stations' and get comfortable with all the wonderful projects we are working on. Since this is a follow-up month we don’t need to start with a business meeting. After lunch we can have Show and Tell and then tie up any loose ends from the January meeting. Again, we encourage you to stay until 2:30.
Until then, keep pedaling
Janice

Letter from the editor
We are off to a great start this year. I am hoping to get my act together and make a bedsheet for my grandson with his image on it from Spoonflower. No promises though! Meanwhile I will be pre-washing those temperamental batiks so that whoever wins this beautiful quilt we are creating will not get a runny mess when it is washed. I am looking forward to the Feb 13th meeting because I will be leaving for Alaska the next day. The photo below is from two days ago outside my daughter's house there. I know people think we are crazy to go this time of year but I am looking forward to the adventure!
I am happy to convey all of these wonderful "goings on" via this newsletter. Try to get things to me in advance of the end of the month via email (mandmoliver@gmail.com) or text. If you put the word "newsletter" somewhere in the message line I will be able to find it easier (if using email). See you soon.
Melinda
