From the Principal - Mr. Thompson

Welcome Back to School! My Vision for our school is to provide a fun, safe, caring, and challenging environment for learning for staff, students, and parents.

Please check PowerSchool often to keep informed of you child's progress in each of his/her classes. If you need help logging in to PowerSchool, please contact beth.todd@centerburgschools.org

Illness

Students with a fever(temperature of 100°F or higher) will be sent home and should stay home at least 24 hours after their fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicines.

Cellphones and SmartWatches

The staff at Centerburg Elementary School is dedicated to creating positive learning environments for our students. Personal Communication Devices (PCDs) often disrupt instructional time for our

students. For this reason, classrooms are cell phone and smart watch free. Students need to turn them off and store them in their backpacks until the end of the day.

Attendance

If your child is going to be absent or if you need to change the way your child is going home, please email attendance.el@centerburgschools.org. The secretaries will be

checking it throughout the school day.

I encourage you to make sure your student is in school. Attendance is critical to students' success. Students who are consistently in school have better grades and do better on local, state, and national tests. It is important that parents and schools work together to make sure every child is in school. See below for an infographic on attendance.

Let's make it a great year!

Welcome New Staff!

Mrs. Huddleston is our new 4th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher this year. She is a recent Franklin University graduate with a Primary Education degree. She substitute taught and student taught at Northmor Elementary school. This is Mrs. Huddleston's second career as she was a former Surgical Technologist at The OSU James Cancer Center. Although teaching is her heart she is also heavily involved in family life. Her children go to Northmor and are actively involved in sports. She is excited and eager to work with the 4th grade students where they will feel safe, loved, and important.

Car Loop

Thank you for all of your patience as we adjust to having a car pick up loop! We have made adjustments daily and the routine is safer and getting faster now. We are dismissing at 3:02pm instead of 3:07pm to alleviate traffic, this started Tuesday, the last pick up was at 3:20pm.

  1. Don’t cut in line.

  2. Pull forward.

  3. Don’t park in the line and get out of your car.

  4. Get off your phone and pay attention.

  5. Get your student and go.

  6. Be patient!

There are two car loops. The second one is by the Booster Building in the back but it is not staff run for older students. Use Factory/Union St. to access.

If your child needs help getting into the car or help with getting in their booster seat, you may park and walk up to the building for dismissal.
