Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families,
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final building newsletter of the school year!
Thank you again for sending us such great students to work with this year. It’s been wonderful to watch them grow as thinkers, problem solvers, musicians, athletes, and humans! This has been a great group to work with and we know they’re going to do big things in the world!
Please be sure to review the newsletter below for important end of the year information. Please monitor your email and social media throughout the summer for updates about the next school year!
Thank you again for partnering with JAJHS for another successful year!
Sincerely,
Ryan Malany
Principal

JAJHS Sensory Garden Update
by Georgia Humm and Ava Phillips
Down here at the Junior High we have been working hard on progressing through the project that is called the Sensory Garden. At the beginning of the year we received a grant of $5,000 to make this project happen. The Sensory Garden is a place out in the front grove of trees, and it will include different sections for each sense of the human body. This is made to be a relaxing and refreshing experience that the preschoolers will soon inherit.
With our research that we have done and along with the grant, we have been able to buy the right materials and create things such as benches, birdhouses, and even an area with kindness rocks. Not only that but we have even made story board posts so we can display a story that the kids can read as they walk around the garden. After having an ODNR wildflower expert teach us about wildflowers he returned with 48 different varieties of wildflower seeds native to the Darby Plains Prairie. Two gardens have been seeded, one for 7th grade and one for 8th grade. We are also currently creating wind chimes to listen to as you walk around and are going to hang them up soon. Pretty soon, we will sit down on the amazing benches we created and read a book.
We would love for you to monitor our progress and come to our grand opening in the Fall of 2026.
