Dear Hardy Families,
Fun things ahead, Hardy Families! We’re seven weeks in and going strong. 📚💪
-
Picture Day is this Friday

WSM: temporary portables are being moved onto campus around 4:30 a.m. each morning (exciting progress!)
CHOICE ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN: The priority CHOICE window is now open through November 3. Please spread the word to all incoming students, TK-5, who would like to attend Hardy next year, 2026-2027.
Leadership Roles: Students will receive certificates with their teams by Friday!
-
APEX Jog-A-Thon kicks off next week with Sports Spirit Day on Monday! Set a family goal with your student and start reaching out to friends, relatives, colleagues, and community partners—every share, pledge, and employer match helps our students thrive. Thank you for fueling the Hardy magic! 🦉💛
Quick action items (see the School Information section for links/details):
-
Complete the Family Resource Guide (formerly Facts for Parents).
-
Submit your LCFF form—we’re still collecting these, and every submission boosts Hardy’s funding.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Aragon
🏃♀️Get ready, Hardy Owls, our Jog-a-Thon officially begins on Monday, Sep 29!
On Monday, September 29, we'll have our first spirit day (Sports Themed) with a Pep Rally. Jog-A-Thon runs through event day on Wednesday, Oct 8.
What it is: A fun, fitness-based fundraiser where every student runs laps with their class. Families and friends pledge donations online to support their runner.
What to expect: APEX staff will be on campus each day leading leadership lessons and building school spirit. Every child participates, no fundraising required!
How to help: Share your student’s pledge link with grandparents, aunts/uncles, employers, or even local businesses. Every little bit adds up!
Volunteer: We’ll need parents/guardians on event day (Oct 8) to help count laps and cheer. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and tick the Jog-a-Thon box.
This is Hardy’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it powers everything from enrichment programs to classroom support. Thank you for helping us make it a success!

Urgent LCFF Update: We’re at 82.55%—help us close the gap!
PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR LCFF SURVEY TO ENSURE HARDY IS PROPERLY FUNDED
Hardy still needs 17.45% of families to complete the LCFF form so we can bring much-needed funding back to our site.
This is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to support your child’s education. Please complete the survey in any of the following ways:
- Online via the unique link emailed to you from survey@sandiegounified.org via SurveyMonkey
- In-person, by printing out and returning the paper form HERE to your child’s school
- Through the PowerSchool Parent Portal (click HERE or scan the QR code below for easy access). The LCFF Form icon is located in the lower left corner. If you don't have a Parent Portal account, click HERE to view a tutorial.
Your form = dollars for counselors, classroom support, and programs our students rely on.
Take Action – Review the Family Resource Guide in Parent Portal
San Diego Unified has released the 2025-26 Family Resource Guide (formerly Facts for Parents). This important guide contains helpful resources for the school year, updates on district policies, and details about student rights and responsibilities. It also includes information about after-school programs, universal meals, and how student work may be shared or celebrated publicly.
What Families Need to Do:
- Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal to review the Family Resource Guide.
- Complete the one-question confirmation form inside the Parent Portal to confirm you have received the guide.
- Fill out the Universal Form (also included in the Parent Portal) to update permissions for media release, technology use, and restorative discipline acknowledgement.
- Please review the document and complete the forms by Friday, December 19, 2025.
Why this matters: Completing these required forms ensures your child can fully participate in classroom and school activities, including media coverage or opportunities for their work to be showcased.
If you need help accessing Parent Portal or setting up an account, visit the Parent Portal resource webpage or contact your school office for support.
You can also check out these videos for help completing the forms.

Help Bring A Motor Lab to Hardy! Movement for Focus: DonorsChoose Project
We’re excited to share a new opportunity to support our students through a DonorsChoose campaign.
Our teachers have launched a project called “Wiggles to Focus: A Motor Lab for Success”, designed to help students strengthen their focus and self-regulation skills through purposeful movement.
This project will provide tools and resources for a motor lab where students can get the movement breaks they need to return to class ready to learn. These supports are especially valuable for students who benefit from sensory input, structured activity, and opportunities to release energy in positive ways.
You can learn more about the project and, if you feel inspired, make a donation here: Wiggles to Focus: A Motor Lab for Success. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring us closer to creating this new space for students.
