Purpose of the Title 1 Annual Meeting Purpose of the Title 1 Annual Meeting

Every year, schools with Title I programs are required to have an annual meeting for parents to explain what the Title I program is and how parents can become involved in our Title I program. The purpose of the Title I annual parent meeting is to provide information to parents about the Title I program and their right to be involved in their child’s education. The annual Title I meeting must be used to explain the Title I requirements, the school’s participation in the program, and the rights for parents to be involved.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title 1, Part A, Section 1116 provides financial assistance to state and local education agencies to meet the needs of at-risk children. The goal of Title 1 is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state's challenging performance standards.

Title 1 is a school wide program with a purpose to improve the entire educational program at TCE. This should result in improving the academic achievement of all students, particularly the lowest achieving students. By law, the school system will ensure that strong strategies are in place to build capacity in parents as partners, and to support parents in attaining high student achievement in class, and at home.

This means all TCE Students receive the benefit of being in a Title 1 School.

As a Title 1 school, we must meet federal regulations related to teacher qualifications as defined by ESEA. These regulations allow you to learn more about your child's teachers training and credentials. All teachers at TCE are highly qualified in the content area in which they are teaching. At any time, you may ask:

  • whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject being taught.
  • whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived
  • what undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds
  • you may also ask whether your child received help form a paraprofessional, and information about their qualifications

TCE students are assessed several times a year to ensure they are learning the state adopted standards from the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Results from the various assessments are used to identify those students who are not mastering the standards and to provide teachers with feedback about instruction. As a staff, the data gathered from these tests help our school identify our strengths and our weaknesses so that we can establish priorities and goals in planning our educational programs.

School-Family Compacts School-Family Compacts

Each Title 1 school jointly develops, through meaningful consultation with parents, a family-school compact that outlines how families and schools will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state's high standards. New for the 2025-2026 school year, instead of this being a separate document(s) it is now only included in the School's Parent & Family Engagement Policy. Throughout the school year, we take all parent comments, recommendations, & concerns through our many meaningful consultations such as parent-teacher conferences, our Fall & Spring PAC (Parent Advisory Council) Meetings, Title 1 surveys, and our school hosted events to help guide us with building the school-wide compact.

Please click the above TCE Parent & Family Engagement Policy to view the section on School-Family Compacts.

Getting Engaged! Getting Engaged!

Parental involvement means that we have participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, ensuring that:
  • parents play a integral role in assisting their child's learning
  • parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education
  • parents are full partners in their child's education and are included in decision making to assist in the education of their child
  • policies are jointly developed with parents
  • the school jointly develops a Family-School Compact each year that outlines how parents, teachers, and students will share the responsibility for student academic achievement

Getting involved is easy!

You can volunteer in the Parent Resource Room anytime during school hours or sign up to help at a special school event (such as Book Fair, PBIS Reward Days, Fall Festival, & more). You can also plan to attend the Title 1 meetings (PAC Meetings, FAST Lunch & Learns) and parent workshops held by the Parent Involvement Coordinator. This will keep you informed and engaged in your child's education. Stay connected to Class Dojo for invites and sign ups!

You can find out more by contacting the Parent Involvement Coordinator, Sara Bridges, at sbridges.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us or by visiting the Parent Resource Room (Room 100)!
