Meet Halo!

Halo, arguably our most popular staff member, is a professionally trained facility-service dog, who works alongside our speech therapist Nadia Pella. She was specially bred and expertly trained by Canine Companions specifically for this type of work, so she is not only friendly and fun, but she is also very sweet and gentle. Halo loves being a Dewey Tiger and shows this through her kisses, hugs, hive fives and nose-to-fist bumps. If you see her out at recess, come up and say “hello!”.

Some Halo Facts:

  • Halo wears a vest when she is working that identifies her as a facility-service dog.
  • Halo is a 6-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever cross.
  • Halo knows over 40 commands designed to motivate and inspire students.
  • Halo loves receiving pets and friendly scratches, giving kisses, and sunbathing.

Remember:

  • Please always ask before you pet Halo; she loves to say “Hi”, but it's important to ask first because she’s working, and we don’t want to distract her.
  • Please do not give Halo treats. There are some treats and foods that may upset her stomach, but she loves food so much that she will eat them anyways!

We know you'll love Halo as much as we do. If you have any questions about Halo and her role at Dewey, or your child is allergic to dogs please contact the front office and/or Ms. Pella. Thank you!

Attendance: Every Day Counts!

Welcome Back!!!!

We are so excited to begin another wonderful year at Dewey! Thank you for helping us get off to such a strong start—our students are arriving ready to learn, and it makes such a difference.

This year, we are aiming for an average of 96% attendance, and we know we can get there together!

Every day counts—not just for learning, but for building friendships, confidence, and momentum that carry our students through the year.

When students are at school regularly:

  • They stay on track with their academics and avoid falling behind.

  • They get to fully participate in the fun of school life—special activities, celebrations, and learning experiences.

  • Our whole community benefits, because attendance also helps ensure strong funding that supports programs and opportunities for every student.

Last year, we reached 93.96%. This year, let’s celebrate every gain and encourage each other as we move closer to our 96% goal. With your continued effort and commitment, we know we can do it!

Thank you for making school a priority in your family each day. Your partnership makes all the difference in helping our Dewey Tigers grow and thrive!

RaiseRight Update

Raise Days September 12-15

Earn BIG with FOUR days of Raise Days bonuses!

Raise Days is back, and it's BIG. Earn up to 23% with 125+ bonuses on eGift cards and reloaded gift cards. It's the perfect time to stock up for fall, get a jump start on holiday shopping, or just make the most of your household budget.

Save Time with Ship to Home

When ordering physical gift cards through RaiseRight, we encourage families to use the Ship to Home option. Shipping typically takes 3–5 days, while coordinator orders will only be placed twice per month. Coordinator shipments also cost $11 and require a signature, which can be difficult to coordinate with UPS.

By choosing Ship to Home, you’ll receive your cards much faster and more conveniently. There is a $1 shipping fee, but if you order a few cards at a time the cost is minimal compared to the wait for coordinator orders.

This is the easiest way to get your cards quickly while keeping the program running smoothly.

Chipotle Family Night

Looking ahead, be sure to order Chipotle gift cards (either as eGift cards in the RaiseRight app or by contacting me for physical cards) to use at our Family Dinner Night on October 8.

Interested in signing up? Contact Danielle Baute at pfoharrydeweyscrip@gmail.com to get started today.
