Student Support at Athletic Events
FMS students and families are encouraged to come out, support our athletes, and show their Franklin pride at our home athletic events! π
As our home events get underway, families should be aware of a few expectations for students attending as spectators:
- ποΈ Student ID: Students attending without a parent/guardian or family member must show their student ID at the door.
- β° School-Day Tardies: Students who have a tardy on the day of a home event may not attend unless accompanied by their parent or guardian. For a Monday home event, this applies to tardies from the preceding Friday.
- Please note that a friendβs parent or friend of the family does not qualify as the student's parent/guardian for this exception.
- π Stay With Your Event: When we have events happening in both gyms, students should choose the gym they would like to attend and remain there. Students should not move between gyms or hang out in the hallways.
- π Have a Ride Ready: All students must have transportation arranged ahead of time. Student spectators must be picked up and/or off school property within 15 minutes after the conclusion of the event.
- Students who are not picked up or off school property within that 15-minute window will lose the privilege of attending FMS sporting events for the remainder of that sports season.
- π Sportsmanship Is Expected From Everyone: Our athletes deserve an environment where they can compete, learn, and have fun. Students, families, and all other spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and treat athletes, coaches, officials, event staff, and one another with respect.
- Profanity, direct disrespect, threatening or inappropriate behavior, or disregard for MHSAA/FMS expectations β including inappropriate or disrespectful behavior directed toward an official β will not be permitted.
For student spectators, this will result in immediate removal and loss of attendance privileges at FMS sporting events for the remainder of that sports season. Parents and adult spectators are held to the same standard. Adults who engage in this type of behavior will be asked to leave the event and will not be permitted to attend FMS sporting events for the remainder of that sports season.
We want our stands full of students and families cheering on our athletes! These expectations are simply about making sure FMS athletic events remain safe, respectful, positive, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Thank you for supporting our athletes and helping us represent Franklin well! ππ

FMS Athletic Director
Stay Responsible and Respectful After School
Between school and home, students are still Franklin students. They are not permitted to go to other schools to bother or harass other students or be disrespectful on any school property. This is a warning to all students that these actions are not representative of who we are as Franklin Hornets, and disciplinary actions will be taken if this kind of behavior continues. That said, we believe this will be the last we have to address it -- thank you for upholding our values and being responsible and respectful students.
Early Pick Up Policy
Our school day ends at 2:40pm. All dismissal arrangements/changes and pickups must be made by 2:20pm. After 2:20pm parents/guardians will have to wait until students are released at the bell for security and safety purposes.
Cell Phone Policy
All wireless communication devices (including, but not limited to, smart phones, cell phones, airpods, tablets, and smart watches) must be turned off or locked in the student's locker during class time.
To be clear, research shows there is no educational, social, or emotional benefit to a student having a cell phone or headphones/earbuds/etc. in our building. It only serves as a distraction or catalyst to inappropriate behavior.
Certain allowances are made for medical reasons, but those must be coordinated with administration.
Students that violate the no cell phone policy by having their phone visible will receive progressive discipline which includes:
First Offense: Tracked warning
Second Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, student picks up phone at end of day.
Third Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, parent pickup.
Fourth Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, parent pickup, and cell phone βdetentionβ (student brings phone to office every day and pickup at end of day for a predetermined amount of time).
Fifth Offense: May result in ISS/OSS. Any beyond five offenses will result in progressive discipline.
If you need to reach your student during the school day you must reach out to the front office.
Notice for Families During Drop Off & Pick Up
Franklin families, it is dark in the mornings and it will only get darker. Please drive slowly and carefully through our parking lot for the safety of our students. In addition, in the morning we have designated areas for parking to drop your student off. Please see the information below:
When in the roundabout, you must continue moving. You cannot park here.
This area is for the Special Education busses. You cannot park or idle here.
Walking students utilize this crosswalk. Please be extra careful when driving.
