Dear District 115 Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Later this week, we celebrate Veterans Day. This important day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform, past and present, and is an occasion to express our deep gratitude for their selfless dedication to protecting our nation and its values. It is essential to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this special day and why we encourage our students to participate in recognizing and honoring our veterans.

To express our appreciation for our veterans, LFHS has partnered with American Legion McKinlock Post 264 to help host a special Veterans Day assembly on Friday at 1:00 pm in the LFHS Raymond Moore Auditorium (RMA) at the LFHS East Campus.

We invite you to join us in this celebration of veterans -- and you won't want to miss the patriotic music provided by Director Janene Kessler and the LFHS Band!

It was a privilege to have representatives from the American Legion at our board meeting Tuesday night. Please see the highlight video below!

Thank you to all who joined us at the recent Community Coffee event at Gorton Center. Your presence made it a success, and your engagement is key to building a stronger, more informed community. We look forward to seeing you at future gatherings!

LFHS Foundation is proud to partner with the high school’s special education department to support efforts to make engaging and meaningful learning accessible to all students. We have had a history of partnering with the LF/LB Learning Disabilities Association and District 115 in these efforts. Since 2020 alone, we’ve awarded just over $26K in grants toward special education including a wheel chair lift, emotional support resources, an iPad lending library, a promethean board, start-up funding for a snack cart business at LFHS, kitchen equipment, and a cash register.

These resources support students and teachers by providing independent life skills experiences as well as allowing for modifications and accommodations that make the curriculum more accessible to students.
