Weekly Wrap-Up #33: 05/08/2026
Wrapping up This Week + News for the Weeks to Come
From the Principal's Mind...
Interestingly enough, I still find a snow day to be a little magical. Probably because it NEVER happened growing up and rarely happened while raising my own children, but the thrill of having a gift of unexpected time was special. I know, however, that for some families it is an unexpected stressor., but I hope there was some positive in it for you.
Thank you for all your kind words and actions to make our staff feel valued and appreciated. A special thanks to PTA. They always go above and beyond and it honored us all! Thank you!
This week we are looking forward to Field Day and our last Friday Wrap Up Raffle. It's also a time to spend time playing with the families in our community this year.
Thank you for your generous hearts. We have collected the money for our LISA programs that were donated through the Art Show night and the Big Kahuna Fundraiser. Thank you! We raised more than $11,300 for LISA that funds high quality art products for students, art related field trips and assemblies, after school art enrichment opportunities like band, choir, drama, dance, and arts academy classes. On behalf of all our students, I thank YOU!
Our band director hosted a band concert this past Thursday that band families were invited to. As I visited rehearsals during the course of this spring, I saw improvement each time. Each student seemed to really enjoy the skills they were developing. When asked the band director, Gary Hall, about the concert, what he said, in his words, "The kids played great! All three of the 5th graders played solos using 5 notes and Kingston especially shined...he prepared two solos and did not miss a note! Every one of the 4th graders played their "final" song with no note errors, excellent rhythm and, for their age, good tone quality. Really enjoyed the kiddos! Thanks...Gary."
On Friday, our 5th graders shared their passion projects with families as well as our classes. I hope you enjoy a glimpse of the amazing work put together by our students as they explored areas of interest deeply.
Pictures of some of our honorees from Friday Wrap Up, celebrating 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, are also included.
This is a last opportunity to sign up to perform at our Annual Schoolwide Talent Show. Here is the link to register. It's such a fun way to end our year. The link will be open until May 15th.
Enjoy your weekend and the return of the sun!

Construction Update for the Week of 5/11-5/15
Below are project updates from this week, as well as for the upcoming week (May 11th-15th):
- Tuesday’s storm brought some much-needed moisture but temporarily halted work for a few days. With the snow now melted, crews are focusing on cleaning up mud and excess water throughout the project area.
- On Monday, the concrete crew poured curb, gutter, and sidewalk along the east leg of West 10th Street on the south side adjacent to the apartment complex.
- Before the storm arrived, the pipe crew completed the tie-in and flow-filled the remaining section at 10th Street and Colorado Avenue. Crews are allowing the intersection time to dry before resuming work in that area.
- Connell Resources is also cleaning up the project staging area and removing excess materials in preparation for final site restoration once the project is completed, anticipated by mid-June 2026.
- The concrete crew will continue progressing west along the south side of 10th Street from Colorado Avenue to Douglas Avenue. Work will be completed one access point at a time to help residents maintain access to their properties. For the property with only a single access point, crews are coordinating closely with the resident and will use high-early-strength concrete so access is only impacted for one day.
- The base crew will return to continue reconstruction and cleanup work at the 10th Street and Colorado Avenue intersection. The concrete crew will also complete replacement sections of sidewalk, curb, gutter, and cross pans in the area.
- The base crew will also begin removing sections of the north half of 10th Street where additional drainage improvements are needed to carry water across the roadway from north to south.
Thank you for your patience as the city enters the final weeks of this project - a major effort that began five years ago. More updates will be shared as we continue moving toward project completion.
Weather permitting, work activities are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am-5:00 pm.
