Attendance Update
Well done to the children who have had 100% attendance this week - all 424 of them!
This week's school attendance is: 96.5%
This year's attendance to date is 95.4%.
Early Years & KS1 class of the week is 2E with 99.3% attendance.
KS2 class of the week is 4BY with a fantastic 100% attendance!
A reminder that, as a school, we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance.
Well done to some of the recent raffle winners for great or improved attendance.
Dogs in the playground
A polite reminder to not bring dogs into the school playground at drop-off or pick-up times — this includes carrying smaller dogs. If you walk to school with your dog, please can we ask that you tie your dog onto the gate on Wrose Road or at the other entrance in the park. Assistance dogs are, of course, welcome.
Parking...again
Please think carefully about how you drive and park around school. There are nearly 500 children attending each day and their safety should be everyone's priority.
Reception trip to Skipton Castle
This week one of the Reception classes had the chance to visit Skipton Castle and had a brilliant day out. Next week the other class will have the opportunity to visit and I am sure they will have just as much fun.
Nursery trip 2 - Hesketh Farm
Last Friday, the second Nursery group went to Hesketh Farm. Again, the children completed lots of farm jobs: mixing the milk ready to feed the lambs and calves, going on a tractor ride, a paddock walk with Farmer Chris, feeding the goats, collecting eggs, holding chicks, brushing the pigs, feeding the horses and cuddling the guinea pigs.
School fundraising
Hopefully you all have the date of Saturday 16th May in your diaries for the family and school sponsored walk from Robert's Park to the Five Rise Locks and back.
In addition to this event, on Saturday 20th June, a group of staff from school will be taking part in the 5km inflatable race in Leeds to raise money for school.
Money raised from both events will go towards improving things for the children of Low Ash. One thing some of the money will be used for is investing further in our exciting outdoor play by purchasing something called 'ScrapShed'. ScrapShed is a metal container or wooden shed which is filled with recycled materials and equipment suitable for outdoor play: plastics, reels, huge tubes, pipes, large boxes, old tyres, material, tarpaulin, den building and much more. This will enhance our OPAL provision.
For more details about ScrapShed, please visit the website using the link ScrapShed - Scrap - Centre of Creative Reuse
Bowling Community Orchard
Our children visit this lovely local orchard. Sadly Bradford Council are raising the rent by 450% (an incredible amount) as they propose to change the land use. At the moment, Lottery funding is just about covering this rent, but we don't want to lose such an amazing and valuable resource. Online Safety Update - Advice on Snapchat
Snapchat is for children aged 13+ but we are aware many of our pupils use this app. Attached is some advice which will help you to ensure your child is safe if using Snapchat.
A reminder that all of our guides can be found on the online safety page of the website.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and and we will see you on Monday.
