WALK-A-THON BREAKS RECORD!
Last Friday, our Emerson Bulldogs came together for our annual Walk-a-thon, and what an incredible day it was! With beautiful weather, lots of smiles, and an abundance of Bulldog spirit, our students enjoyed walking, running, and spending time with their friends and families while supporting our school. One of the most memorable highlights was watching our top 15 fundraisers get the chance to pie a staff member in the face! It was a moment filled with laughter that our students are sure to remember for years to come! A HUGE thank you to Mr. McCoy, Mrs. Wolf, Ms. Strahan, Ms. Vargo, Ms. Feldman, and Ms. Rehman for being such great sports and taking one (or even a few!) pies for the team. We appreciate you more than you know!
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, shared their student's fundraising page, volunteered their time, or came out to cheer on and support our Emerson Bulldogs. Thanks to your incredible generosity and support, we broke our school fundraising record, raising an amazing $36,743! We are truly speechless and so incredibly grateful. This accomplishment is about so much more than reaching a fundraising goal; it reflects the strength, kindness, and generosity of the community that makes Emerson so special. Because of all of you, we can continue to provide wonderful opportunities and experiences for our students, and we couldn't do it without you!
We are so excited to celebrate our students who raised $225 or more at the Dave & Buster's Superstar Party on November 4th! We are also working hard to get all remaining prizes distributed by the end of October. Thank you again for making this year's Walk-a-thon such a tremendous success. We are so proud to be part of such an amazing Bulldog community!
Thank you!

CREATING A PARENT/GUARDIAN ACCOUNT IN CANVAS
Below are the directions for pairing as a Parent Observer with your students’ Canvas account.
Parents can use Canvas to
Contact their child’s teacher
View grades, due dates, and events
See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
Support an absent student
View classroom and building announcements
And more!
For the first step you will need to have two devices (tablet, laptop, computer or phone) available to be paired. One device will be used to log into your student’s canvas account. The other will be used to create your parent canvas account.
For parents/guardians of students whom are in young fives through 2nd Grade:
A QR code of your students’ username and password will have been sent home. Use your camera function to scan the QR code to access your student’s Canvas Account. If you are having issues with the QR code, contact your teacher or elementary media tech.
For parents/guardians of students whom are in 3rd-6th Grade:
To log in as your student, go to this website (preferably in Chrome, but Safari is okay):
https://www.fraser.k12.mi.us/myfps

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR GOING TO SCHOOL
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students.
Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate.
We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
Restorative Practices is a relational approach to building community. In this three hour training, you will learn some of the theory behind Restorative Practices as well as some practical strategies to add to your parent toolbox that are already being used with your students in our schools. Whether you have a kindergartener or a senior, this training is for you!
The Restorative Practices training team consists of a classroom teacher (Luke Woods), a retired public safety officer (Lisa Pettyes), and a social worker (Tina Madeleine). The team has been training staff in RP for over 5 years and will bring several different perspectives to the training.
There are two difrerent slots to sign up - one if you require child care and one if you will not. Please make sure to use the right category.
Training will be on November 4th from 5-8:30 PM in the Richards Middle School Media Center.
